Very old terrible quality furniture and appliances. Unbearably hot in warm weather with no ventilation.. Lift always broken. Totally unacceptable standard of accommodation. Extortionate cost would never recommend - avoid avoid avoid.

Perhaps the worst place I've ever been... Unbearable conditions, many entirely sleepless nights. Ridiculously hot all year round, slept without covers on the bed through December. Kitchen was filthy when we arrived, as well as nearly all the surfaces being broken in one way or another. Kitchen cupboards full of mold and rot. The door for the sink came away due to rotten wood (and shoddy repairmanship). I personally had to fix several things around the flat for myself and others, following absolute radio silence from the maintenance team. The Kitchen tap leaked dramatically throughout the year, and was still broken when we left due to the parts brought in to repair the piping being of poor plastic quality which would break under the heat of the tap. Simple repairs were simply ignored. Fire alarm tests every Tuesday morning (except from when they forgot and did it on random days) which lead to lots of confusion. I can't begin to imagine how somebody with anxiety issues would have felt when these "tests" were carried out. Useless Keycards. Many people were constantly trapped outside of the flat/ building, and your room would sometimes just lock itself whenever it fancied. Staff would also let themselves into your flat without asking for consent, leading to various problematic scenarios that were akin to the Carry On films. Wifi never worked properly. My wireless devices never connected to the WiFi, which was never fixed despite my best efforts. Laundry cost £10 for a wash, and would not actually wash your clothes at all. Sometimes I had to run my clothes through the washing machine four separate times before they would even be considered "clean". Unhelpful staff. Lifts constantly broken, and when they did work were painfully slow and microscopic in nature (which is especially relevant in a building full of musicians with large instruments). I'd give it zero stars if I could. Absolutely outrageous...

Extortionate, filthy and dishonest. Nothing will get fixed during your stay (I had no bathroom light for 4 months!) and the building itself is falling apart, our kitchen cupboards literally fell off. Our oven caught fire and the building had to be evacuated as we learned that the building is clad similarly to grenfell, so personally I'd think twice before booking in here. If anyone from unite happens to read this, clean your disgusting hovel.

1. I arrived at my accommodation to find a number of broken items that were not listed in the room checks that Unite had supposedly done. As well as this, we consistently had a foul smell from the drain in the kitchen and were told by maintenance that nothing could be done about it. 2. The reception is (stupidly) on the fifth floor which means that if parcels are delivered they just get dumped in the lobby where anybody can steal them. I would get spammed with about four emails a month to say that reception was going to be closed, and even when it was supposed to be open there would be nobody there half the time. (However the staff are friendly and helpful when they do bother to show up). 3. The rooms are tiny for the price you pay and are very cold in the winter as the heater only turns on for about 30 minutes at a time. The accommodation has construction work going on directly outside which made it unbearably loud to open the window from about 7am onwards. As well as this, the walls are ridiculously thin to the point where I would be woken up my my flatmate's alarms and could hear people's conversations from all the way in the kitchen. 4. If there is a power cut, the wifi turns off and Unite will not bother to turn it back on again until midday the next day, meaning sometimes we would go without wifi for longer than 24 hours. The lifts also come to a halt and anyone trapped inside has to call the emergency services to let them out. 5. Members of staff can walk into your room at any time without warning. My flatmate had somebody unlock his bedroom door and walk into his bathroom while he was in the shower. After inspecting my room while I was in the kitchen, the staff member locked my door with my key still inside the room so that I was locked out, even though he knew I was in the flat at the time. 6. I made a complaint about my flatmate smoking in her room and provided video evidence of her doing it and all Unite bothered to do about it was send an email to everybody in the flat asking politely that none of us smoke indoors with no mention of what would happen if any of us continue to do so. 7. There are weekly fire alarm tests on Tuesdays at varying times so if there was ever an actual fire on a Tuesday, everybody would assume it was a test and not evacuate the building.

People who worked here were nice, but its overpriced for what you get. The halls are either freezing or boiling with no inbetween and washing is very expensive. We also had a situation of a power cut, in which the unite team took over seven hours to actually come and fix the power in our flat- we hadn’t been able to cook at all and had been told “half an hour wait” when we rang. Additionally, a fire recently occured in which nobody heard the fire alarm go off. The weekly “tests” are therefore completely useless as they aren’t even teating if the alarm reacts to fire, rather than testing what the alarm sounds like when you turn it on.
