Horrible, horrible student accommodation. For one, it’s terribly expensive given what you’re actually getting. Rooms are decent but quite small. Shared kitchens are always a nightmare experience given the fact that there are no regular cleaning services. All tenants are left with are “inspections” which you either pass or fail, so it depends on who you share the kitchen with. that’s quite ridiculous given the fact that the university of surrey’s own accommodation (half the cost btw) has regular kitchen cleanings to make the situation tolerable. This accommodation has a bunch of facilities used to look flashy (a gym, a cinema room, a study room and a games room). In reality, each of these facilities is only semi usable and often unreasonably difficult to access. What you’re left with is the feeling that they only built these to put them on a checklist but didn’t care what it’s actually like to use them. Laundry services are also unnecessarily expensive. I spoke with staff that are woefully underpaid for their job. Reception staff is unhelpful and clearly there for show. Stay away from this accommodation if you can help it. Aggravating experience given how expensive it is.

Amazing place to live as a student. Just a few minutes away from railway station by walking and surrounded by nature and shops in the town centre, it is a very comfortable place with good space distribution, new and well kept facilities, nice bedrooms, spaces for recreation and relaxation from studies laundry room, gym, movies, etc. Lovely place and kind staff. Really worth it!

Despite the construction delays and New Build issues here and there, the amazing facilities, unbeatable location from uni and great staff make Bankside a great place to live in! As the first batch of students living in the complex, we definitely experienced issues the first few months after moving in. Construction was delayed by a few months so we our morning alarms was basically heavy machinery, brick cutting and drilling noise. Similarly, the lift in Block C was out of service for a good number of weeks - tough for us living in the higher floors. We had a few issues with fixtures in some rooms - blinds falling and lightbulbs going out. Despite all this, the staff were attentive all throughout and tried to make the best of it. We’re definitely spoiled for events and other fun activities at Bankside, with regular Breakfasts and Coffee or seasonal decor welcoming us at the lobby. The staff are very kind and accommodating. It’s only a few minutes walk away from everything (town, train station, uni, grocery store, etc.) and the complex itself is very well-planned. While the on-site gym isn’t the best, there’s a The Gym just a short walk away. On-site laundry is provided by Circuit (sadly) but our parcel delivery system is pretty good. As an international student, finding a good place to live was very important - along with making new friends. I’m glad that the cluster apartment setup turned out alright for me as my flatmates are great! If you’re looking for a place to live in while you’re at the University of Surrey, I would consider Bankside Student Living a strong contender.

The management structure here is extremely concerning. There seems to be no clear leadership beyond the reception desk, and whenever an issue needs escalation, there is simply no one available to take responsibility. It creates the impression that there is no proper oversight or accountability within the building. For any accommodation — especially student housing — having an organised and accessible management team is essential, and that does not appear to be the case here.

The accommodation is close to both the Guildford rail station and the University of Surrey campus. The accommodation does offer a gym which mainly includes cardio equipment, the gyms is very small. The main downside is that most people who choose to share a kitchen are not clean people. Also, the kitchen and bedrooms weren't clean when I moved in. The microwave had a years worth of food splashes in it - because it wasn't cleaned. The tenants are responsible for all cleaning, including taking out bins. The staff here are really nice, but the actual living environment isn't great, also laundry costs are more expensive than Scape. If you're kitchen ends up filthy because of other people, it will stay that way unless you clean. There are a lot more photos and these include photos from two different flats that I was put in. Honestly, if you can afford to live by yourself, just do that. All that was not worth the extortionate price paid to live there.
