For students studying in central Melbourne, living close to the CBD can reduce their daily travel time. Unilodge Melbourne City is located at 480 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne, Victoria 3000, placing residents close to Melbourne Central, public transport, supermarkets, cafés, restaurants and several higher education institutions. The property offers both private studios and shared apartments, giving students different ways to approach their accommodation.
The room range covers several studio sizes as well as two-, three-, four-, five-, six- and seven-bedroom options. Inside the building, residents have access to study rooms, communal kitchens, a dining room, a theatre/cinema room and practical services such as laundry facilities, printing, bicycle storage and onsite reception. Its CBD location also means that many of the places students use during a normal week are within the surrounding area.
The main feature of Unilodge Melbourne City is its central location. The property sits on Elizabeth Street in Melbourne's CBD, close to Melbourne Central and several of the city's main transport connections.
That position can make the daily routine more straightforward for students whose classes, work or social plans take them across central Melbourne. Instead of travelling into the city from a distant suburb, residents are already within the CBD and can use the surrounding tram, train and bus network when they need to go further.
The area also has a different character at different times of the day. University buildings, shops and cafés shape the daytime routine, while restaurants, markets, parks and other public spaces provide students with places to spend time once classes are finished.
Public transport is an important part of living at Unilodge Melbourne City. Tram stops, bus services and railway stations surround the property, giving students several ways to travel around Melbourne.
Two nearby tram stops include Melbourne Central Station/Elizabeth St #5 and Elizabeth St/Bourke St.
These stops give residents access to Melbourne's tram network and make it possible to travel around the CBD without depending on a car. For students attending institutions elsewhere in Melbourne, tram connections can also form part of a longer journey.
Bus services are also available around the property. Nearby stops include:
Melbourne Central Station/Elizabeth St #5
Elizabeth St/Lonsdale St
Having bus services alongside the tram network gives students another option when planning journeys around the city.
Melbourne Central Railway Station is one of the most useful transport points near the accommodation. It provides train connections to different parts of Melbourne and can be particularly useful for students whose university campus or other regular destinations are outside the immediate CBD.
Flinders Street Railway Station is also accessible from the property, giving residents another major railway connection within central Melbourne.
The location of Unilodge Melbourne City puts students within reach of several higher education institutions.
The University of Melbourne is a short journey from the property, while Victoria University can also be reached using Melbourne's public transport network. William Angliss Institute Australia is another nearby institution for students studying in the city.
The actual journey will depend on the campus a student attends, their timetable and the transport service they use. For students studying in or around central Melbourne, however, the CBD location keeps several institutions within a manageable commute.
The accommodation at Unilodge Melbourne City covers two main approaches to student living. Studios give residents a private living arrangement, while the shared apartments provide a household setup with other students.

The studio range gives students the option of having their own accommodation rather than sharing their main living space with several other residents.
The Studio King Single starts from AUD 539 per week, while the Studio Queen starts from AUD 549 per week. Students looking for a different configuration can consider the Studio King Single Superior, starting from AUD 589 per week.
There is also a Large Studio, which starts from AUD 684 per week, and an Accessible Studio available from AUD 619 per week.
The different studio categories give students some room to weigh up the amount of space they want against the weekly cost. The accessible option adds another consideration for students looking for accommodation with accessibility features.
The shared accommodation starts at a lower weekly price than the studios.
The Accessible Twin Share Room starts from AUD 399 per week. For students who want a larger shared household, the property has two-bedroom apartments from AUD 491 per week, followed by three-, four-, five-, six- and seven-bedroom configurations.
The 3-bedroom shared bathroom starts from AUD 479 per week, while the ensuite version starts from AUD 499. The 4-bedroom shared bathroom starts from AUD 444, with the ensuite option from AUD 494.
The five-, six- and seven-bedroom ensuite apartments each start from AUD 469 per week.
Shared apartments create a different routine from studio living. Common areas become part of everyday life, and students have the chance to live alongside other residents while keeping their individual bedroom as their own space.
The facilities at Unilodge Melbourne City cover several parts of the student routine. There are areas for academic work and shared meals, along with services that deal with practical tasks such as laundry, printing and bicycle storage.
Study & Learning Spaces
Students have access to dedicated study rooms within the property. These provide a separate place to work on assignments, revise or spend time on coursework without having to remain in the bedroom.
The building also has printing services, which can be useful when students need physical copies of assignments, forms or other documents.
Having these facilities within the accommodation means that some routine university tasks can be handled without making a separate trip elsewhere in the city.
The shared areas give residents places to spend time away from their rooms.
The communal kitchens and dining room provide space for preparing meals and eating with flatmates. For students living in shared apartments, the kitchen naturally becomes part of the household routine.
There is also a theatre/cinema room, giving residents an indoor place to watch films or spend an evening with friends. Community events are organised by UniLodge as well, giving residents opportunities to meet other people living in the building.
For students moving to Melbourne without already knowing many people in the city, these shared areas can become part of the social side of accommodation.
Several facilities at the property deal with the everyday tasks that come with living away from home.
Onsite management and reception are available during business hours, while after-hours emergency staff are available when assistance is needed outside those hours.
Residents also have access to onsite laundry facilities, free bicycle storage, vending machines and elevators. Printing services are available for academic and other documents.
Air conditioning is available throughout the building, adding another practical feature for residents living in Melbourne.
Security is another part of the accommodation setup.
The property has onsite management and reception, with after-hours emergency staff available for situations outside normal reception hours. These services give residents a point of contact during their stay and a way to seek assistance when required.
Internet access is included as part of the accommodation arrangement.
Residents have access to Wi-Fi building-wide along with high-speed internet access. For university students, this covers an important part of everyday life, from online research and coursework to communication and general internet use.
Having internet access available within the property also means students do not have to arrange a separate connection for their accommodation.
The CBD location means grocery shopping and other routine errands can be handled around the property.
Coles Central Melbourne CBD, Woolworths Melbourne Central and ALDI on Franklin Street are among the supermarkets in the surrounding area. These give residents several options when picking up groceries, snacks and household supplies.
The location of these supermarkets can be particularly useful for students living in shared apartments, where grocery shopping and cooking form part of the regular household routine.
Cafés are also part of the surrounding neighbourhood. Cafe Victoria and Market Lane Coffee near Queen Victoria Market are among the nearby options.
Students can use these places for a quick coffee between classes or simply take a break from their accommodation and study routine.
There are several restaurants and food venues around the property.
Bonnibel is located across the street, while Higher Ground and NOMAD Melbourne are also accessible from the accommodation.
With restaurants spread throughout the CBD, students have options for days when cooking is not part of the plan or when they want to meet friends for a meal outside the property.
Living at Unilodge Melbourne City puts students close to several places that form part of everyday life in central Melbourne. Shopping centres, markets, parks, libraries, gyms and pubs are all within the wider surrounding area.
Several major shopping destinations are close to the property.
Melbourne Central, Emporium Melbourne and QV Melbourne offer retail stores, food outlets and other services. Queen Victoria Market is also nearby and gives residents another place to shop for fresh produce and other goods.
The mix of supermarkets, shopping centres and the market means students can handle routine errands without travelling far from the CBD.
Although the property is in central Melbourne, there are green spaces within reach.
Flagstaff Gardens provides an open area where students can walk, sit outside or take a break from the surrounding city streets. Carlton Gardens is another option for spending some time outdoors.
These spaces can be useful when students want to step away from classrooms, study rooms and the busy CBD for a while.
Students who prefer studying outside their accommodation have access to several library spaces.
State Library Victoria is one of the major library facilities in central Melbourne and provides another environment for reading and university work. City Library is also nearby.
For students working on longer assignments or looking for somewhere different from the study rooms at the property, these libraries provide another setting for academic work.
Students who want to keep up with exercise have several gyms and fitness facilities around central Melbourne.
Fitness First Melbourne Central Platinum and Melbourne City Baths Gym are among the nearby options. Their locations within the CBD make them accessible as part of a regular student routine.
There are also places around the CBD for students who want to meet friends after classes.
The Workshop and Melbourne Bar and Bistro are among the nearby pub and bar options. These venues add another choice for spending an evening outside the accommodation.

Students comparing accommodation often look at Unilodge Melbourne City photos before deciding which room type to book. Images can help give a clearer impression of the studios, shared apartments and communal facilities available at the property.
It is worth checking the photos alongside the specific room description because layouts and available space can differ between accommodation categories. Students should also check the latest room availability and pricing before making a booking, as the listed starting rates may change.

A very good place for student accommodation, the staff are nice, and regularly host some events for students, including Philip Island tour, Lake Mountain and other local signature places. The environment is amazing, the study area, 51/F common area have a stunning sunset view for relieving the study stress. The room is comfortable and high-quality. However, the customer services and administrative stuff have a room for improvement. The facilities are always not working or malfunction, especially the high-level lift always out of order and cause a severe inconvenience to the resident (sometimes need to be wait at least 2 days for fixing), the entertainment facilities (the pool) havent been fixed for 2 months. Hygiene issue at 6/F common kitchen. Hopefully, these errors can be fixed in the future. But generally thanks for hosting the events during my stay and have met a group of people with different backgrounds, which is one of my wonderful journey here in my life. Environment: 4/5 Services and administrative: 3/5 Transportation(Convenience): 5/5 Experience and Comfort: 5/5

I lived at UniLodge Melbourne City for two years, and honestly, by the end of my stay I had become quite attached to the place. When I first moved in, the residence held a welcome event where staff introduced the basic information and rules for living here. They also provided pizza, so residents could enjoy food while getting to know new people. The accommodation regularly organised activities such as hiking trips, hot springs visits and zoo outings. During Chinese New Year, there was even a dinner with dragon and lion dance performances. Although I was often busy with assignments, I probably attended the free Monday milkshake sessions the most. The staff are always warm, friendly and helpful, especially Odette, Nicole and Shaun. In my final semester, I had many questions about moving out and other arrangements. Whenever I saw Odette at the front desk, I would ask her a lot of questions. She always explained everything carefully and helped both me and my friends on many occasions. She solved many problems for us, and I am very grateful for her support. I especially want to thank Nicole. With her help, I was able to extend my lease and attend my graduation ceremony. Without her support, I would not have had enough time or the opportunity to attend it. Nicole is genuinely kind and considerate. She truly looks at issues from each resident’s perspective and makes a real effort to find practical solutions. Shaun is also a wonderful person. He was one of the first staff members I met when I moved in, and I could always see him helping out at different events. He has a great personality and helped create a welcoming atmosphere in the building. Overall, my time at UniLodge Melbourne City has been an unforgettable part of my life in Melbourne. I am very grateful for the memories, the community and the support I received here.

I stayed at UniLodge Melbourne City during my exchange semester, and while the rooms and facilities were generally as expected, the management and customer service left a lot to be desired. The biggest issue was the complete lack of consistency from staff. Every time I asked the same question, I received a different answer depending on who was at reception. Whether it was about the cleaning fee, parcel collection, or other policies, you could never rely on the information you were given. It made even simple things unnecessarily frustrating. My move-out experience summed up my time at UniLodge. A cleaning fee was deducted from my bond even though I had already discussed the issue with the property manager. The room was dirty when I moved in, and I had provided video evidence of this by email. Before leaving, I thoroughly cleaned the room, leaving it in significantly better condition than I received it. Despite this, the cleaning fee was still deducted. Money was also deducted from my bond for outstanding rent without any prior invoice or notice. There was no explanation attached to the deduction indicating what it was for, so from my perspective, money had simply disappeared from my bond without any communication. Although I later understood the reason, this is not an acceptable way to handle bond deductions. On top of that, some of the extra charges felt excessive, for example, AUD 5 for a 30-minute washing machine cycle. Overall, my impression was that management was far more focused on finding ways to charge residents than on providing transparent, consistent, and trustworthy service. Student accommodation should make life easier, not leave residents constantly second-guessing the information they’re given or worrying about unexpected charges. I also had friends staying in the same UniLodge building, as well as in other UniLodge properties, and they described very similar issues with inconsistent communication, poor customer service, and management. I would not stay at UniLodge again, and I cannot recommend it based on my experience.
