About this property

UniLodge Melbourne Central

UniLodge Melbourne Central: Your Student Home in Central Melbourne

For students studying in Melbourne's CBD, living close to campus, public transport, and everyday services can make a noticeable difference to the daily routine. UniLodge Melbourne Central is located at 293 La Trobe Street, Melbourne, Victoria 3000, placing residents close to Melbourne Central, major tram and train connections, supermarkets, restaurants, and several universities. The property offers private studios as well as shared apartments, giving students different ways to approach their accommodation.

The building also has a substantial selection of shared and private facilities. Study rooms, a study lounge, an on-site library and a communal kitchen cover some of the practical side of student life, while the Sky Lounge, games room, cinema room, music room and terrace give residents places to spend time away from coursework. Water, Wi-Fi and electricity come with the rent, making budgeting for the week that little bit easier.

Living at UniLodge Melbourne Central

The main feature of UniLodge Melbourne Central is its location in central Melbourne. The property sits on La Trobe Street, close to Melbourne Central and within the wider CBD area.

That location places students close to much of what they are likely to use during the week. University campuses, railway and tram services, supermarkets, cafés, shopping centers, and public spaces are all part of the surrounding area.

For students arriving in Melbourne from elsewhere in Australia or from overseas, living in the CBD also means that many first-day practicalities can be handled without travelling across the city. Groceries, transport, study spaces, and places to eat are all nearby, while the wider Melbourne network remains accessible from the surrounding stations and tram stops.

An accessible option is also available, with the Studio Accessible starting from AUD 605 per week.

The different studio categories give prospective residents some room to weigh up weekly cost, room configuration and the amount of space they want from their accommodation.

Shared Apartments

Students who prefer a shared household can choose between a 2 Bedroom Apartment, starting from AUD 490 per week, and a 6 Bedroom Apartment (Ensuite), starting from AUD 485 per week.

Shared accommodation creates a different day-to-day routine from studio living. Common areas become part of the household, and residents share the living environment with their flatmates while retaining their own bedroom space.

What's Included in Your Rent?

Three important household bills are included in the accommodation arrangement: water, Wi-Fi, and electricity.

For students managing a weekly accommodation budget, having these costs included means fewer separate bills to keep track of. UniLodge Melbourne Central also provides Wi-Fi throughout the property, supporting the everyday internet access required for university work, communication and general use.

Facilities for Study and Student Life

The facilities at UniLodge Melbourne Central cover several parts of the student routine. There are dedicated spaces for academic work, areas for cooking and socialising, and recreational facilities that residents can use once the study day is over.

Study & Learning Spaces

Students have access to several places within the property for university work.

There are dedicated study rooms, along with a separate study lounge and an on-site library. Having more than one study setting gives residents the option to work in a quieter room, use a shared study area or settle into the library depending on what they are working on.

For students who prefer to keep their bedroom separate from their academic routine, these spaces provide alternatives within the same building.

Social & Recreational Spaces

The property has a substantial selection of shared areas for residents who want to spend time outside their rooms.

The Sky Lounge provides a communal setting with views across the city, while the BBQ area gives residents an outdoor space for shared meals and informal gatherings. There is also a Games Room for recreational activities.

The Cinema Room provides an option for film nights without leaving the property, while the Music Room gives students a dedicated space for playing or practising music. A general Lounge Area and Terrace add further shared spaces where residents can sit, talk or take a break from their rooms.

Fitness and Everyday Facilities at Unilodge Melbourne Central Student Accommodation

An on-site Gym means students can exercise without travelling to an external fitness centre.

The property also has a Communal Kitchen, which provides additional cooking space, and an On-site Laundry with coin or card-operated machines. These facilities cover some of the ordinary tasks that form part of living away from home.

Student Services and Security

Onsite Staff are available at the property, with 24-hour staff available for residents who require assistance outside regular operating hours.

Having staff on site gives students a point of contact during their stay and can be particularly useful for those moving to Melbourne from another city or country.

Getting Around from UniLodge Melbourne Central Accommodation

Public transport is one of the more significant parts of the location. UniLodge Melbourne Central is close to Melbourne Central Station, tram stops and several bus stops, giving residents multiple ways to travel around the city.

Melbourne Central Station

Melbourne Central Station is located close to the property and provides train services across Melbourne and connections towards regional Victoria.

For students attending a university outside the immediate CBD, the station can form part of the regular commute. For residents staying within central Melbourne, it also provides a useful connection when travelling further across the city.

Tram Stops

Several tram stops are located around the property, including:

  • Melbourne Central Station/La Trobe St #5

  • Exhibition St/La Trobe St #8

These stops connect residents to Melbourne's extensive tram network and provide another way to travel around the CBD and beyond.

Bus Stops

Bus services are also available nearby. Stops listed around the property include:

  • La Trobe St/Russell St

  • Melbourne Central/Lonsdale St

The combination of trains, trams and buses gives students several options when planning regular journeys.

The Melbourne Free Tram Zone also covers much of the CBD, which can be useful for students travelling within the central area.

UniLodge Melbourne Central - Nearby Universities

The location of UniLodge Melbourne Central puts several educational institutions within reach.

The University of Melbourne, Victoria University and William Angliss Institute Australia are among the institutions accessible from the property.

The actual journey will depend on the campus a student attends and the transport service they use. For students studying around central Melbourne, however, the CBD address keeps several campuses and institutions within a manageable commute.

Shops, Supermarkets and Everyday Essentials

Living close to Melbourne Central means you can do your grocery shopping and other routine errands without travelling far from the property.

Supermarkets

Several supermarkets are located around the accommodation, including:

  • Coles Melbourne Central

  • Woolworths Melbourne Central

  • Crown Asian Supermarket

These give residents different options for buying groceries, snacks, household supplies and other everyday items.

For students living in shared apartments, having supermarkets nearby can make regular grocery runs easier to fit around classes and other commitments.

Dining Out & Cafes

There are numerous food options around the property, covering different cuisines and types of meals.

ChangGo Korean BBQ offers Korean food, while Robata Melbourne provides a modern Japanese option. Students looking for a more casual meal can visit Fathers Office, while Cicconi's offers Italian food.

For coffee and quick breaks, nearby options include Starbucks Melbourne Central, Charles La Trobe Coffee Co and 414 La TROBE Cafenatics.

Having cafés and restaurants around the accommodation gives students alternatives to cooking at home, whether they need a quick coffee between classes or want to meet friends for a meal.

Shops, Essentials & Weekend Browsing

The property is close to several of Melbourne's major shopping destinations.

Melbourne Central is directly associated with the surrounding transport and retail area and contains shops, food venues and a cinema. Emporium Melbourne and QV Melbourne provide further retail and lifestyle outlets.

The Bourke Street Mall is also within walking distance. Its central location makes it another option for students looking for department stores, shops and the street activity associated with one of Melbourne's main retail areas.

Parks and Green Spaces

The CBD can become busy during the university week, so nearby green spaces give students places to step away from the city streets.

Flagstaff Gardens, Carlton Gardens and Birrarung Marr are all accessible from the property.

Students can use these spaces for a walk, some time outdoors or a change of setting when they want a break from studying indoors. They can also work as informal outdoor study spots when the weather allows.

Libraries and Study Resources

The property has its own library, but students also have access to larger public and university study facilities nearby.

State Library Victoria is within walking distance and provides an extensive library environment for students who need a larger study setting or additional research resources.

The RMIT University Library is another nearby academic resource. For students whose coursework requires longer reading or research sessions, having both the property's study spaces and external libraries gives them several places to work.

Stay Active Nearby

The on-site gym covers basic exercise needs without requiring residents to leave the property. Students looking for an external fitness centre can also consider Fitness First Melbourne Central and Melbourne City Baths Gym.

Their central locations make them accessible as part of a regular routine for students who prefer to exercise outside their accommodation.

Healthcare Within Easy Reach

Healthcare is another practical consideration for students living away from home.

La Trobe Street Medical is located around the property, while St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne and The Royal Melbourne Hospital provide larger medical facilities within the wider city area.

Having medical services accessible from central Melbourne means students have established healthcare facilities available when they need them.

Pubs and Evening Spots

There are several places around Melbourne Central and the surrounding CBD for students who want to spend an evening outside the property.

BYRDI and Asian Beer Café are located within Melbourne Central. For a more traditional pub setting, The Duke of Wellington and The Oxford Scholar Hotel are among the nearby options.

These venues give residents another way to spend time with friends after classes or at the end of the week.

Unilodge Melbourne Central Address and Location

The Unilodge Melbourne Central address is 293 La Trobe Street, Melbourne, Victoria 3000.

The property sits within Melbourne's CBD, close to Melbourne Central Station, tram and bus services, supermarkets, shopping centres, cafés, restaurants and several universities. For students comparing Unilodge Melbourne Central with accommodation farther from the city, the main difference is the amount of their daily routine that can be handled within central Melbourne.

Unilodge Melbourne Central Photos and Property Details

Students comparing Unilodge Melbourne Central with other accommodation options often look at photos before choosing a room. Images can help give a clearer impression of the studios, shared spaces and facilities available at the property.

It is worth checking the photos alongside the individual room description, since the size and configuration can differ between room categories. Students should also check the latest availability and pricing before booking, as starting rates can change.

Why Choose UniLodge Melbourne Central Student Accommodation?

The location is one of the clearest features of UniLodge Melbourne Central. The property sits on La Trobe Street, close to Melbourne Central Station and several tram and bus connections, while supermarkets, restaurants, cafés and shopping centres are all part of the surrounding CBD.

The facilities cover both academic and social parts of student life. Study rooms, a study lounge and an on-site library provide places for coursework, while the Sky Lounge, BBQ area, games room, cinema room, music room, lounge and terrace give residents different spaces to use outside study hours.

Practical facilities include an on-site gym, communal kitchen, laundry, on-site staff and 24-hour staff availability. Water, Wi-Fi and electricity are also included in the rent.

I’ve had a fantastic experience living here so far! The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of Melbourne's CBD and super close to most major universities. The facilities are top-notch, and the rooms are actually spacious enough to fit everything a student needs. A huge shout-out to the staff who are all wonderful, especially Roman! He’s always so cheerful and ready to help with a smile. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a central and friendly spot to stay!

Really had a memorable and enjoyable time here. It was a cold winter when I first came to Melbourne, I don’t know anyone and I don’t know this place, all I know is I rented a unit in unilodge. I started my life here with a suitcase and left with many moving boxes. This may not be the biggest unit in size, but all the help from the reception, stable water and electricity supply, fast internet connection definitely made my day feels supported and to anyone who is gonna stay here, I strongly recommend you to come here. I’m writing this not only because of the review but also part of my life:)

The whole business model of the organisation is based on monitary exploitation of the students. Would not recommend anyone to stay with Unilodge, especially this specific building since the different buildings have their own management and own rules. And clearly, Unilodge Centrals management only cares about the money rather than the students. Also, a fair warning in general for the students coming from Europe, Australia's consumer rights are far inferior compared to those you are used to.
