For students, the biggest advantage is the location. You can get around the city easily, and many of the places you’ll need during the week are within walking distance or a short tram ride away.
Scape Melbourne Central has several room options, shared spaces and useful facilities, so you can pick a setup that works for your budget and the kind of student life you want.
The property is managed by Scape Student Living and is designed specifically for students. That means you’ll have access to study areas, social spaces and practical facilities without having to travel across the city for the basics.
If you’re moving to Melbourne for the first time, the central location can also make those first few weeks easier. You’ll have shops, supermarkets, public transport and other services close by while you get used to your new surroundings.

The Twin Room in an 8 Bedroom Apartment is the lowest-priced option listed. It can work well if you’re comfortable sharing your bedroom and want to keep your weekly rent lower.
A 4 Bed Apartment or 3 Bed Apartment gives you a smaller shared setup. You’ll have other students around, but the apartment has fewer residents than the larger eight-bedroom option.
If you prefer having fewer people around, the 2 Bed Apartment gives you a more private shared setup with one other flatmate.
The Signature Plus Studio is the most private option on this list. You get your own space, including a kitchen and bathroom, but the higher weekly price reflects that extra privacy.
Prices are starting rates and can vary based on availability, room selection and booking dates, so check the current rate before making a decision.
After studying, you can head to the lounge area or outdoor courtyards for some downtime. If you’re living with other students, these shared areas can also make it easier to meet people.
There’s a games room for a more relaxed way to spend your evening, along with a cinema room if you fancy watching something with friends.
Scape also runs on-site events, giving you opportunities to meet other residents. This can be particularly useful during your first few weeks when you’re still getting to know people.
There are also on-site laundry facilities, which means you can get your washing done within the property.
If you cycle around Melbourne, bike storage is available. Car parking is also listed as a facility for residents.
At Scape Melbourne Central, your rent includes:
It’s still worth checking the current booking terms before signing your agreement so you know exactly what is covered and if any conditions apply.
The area also gives you easy access to some of Melbourne’s major universities, which can make the daily commute simpler depending on where you study.
Your exact travel time will depend on your campus and class location, so check the route before booking your room.
You’ll find tram stops around La Trobe Street, Elizabeth Street and Swanston Street. Nearby stops include:
State Library Station is also nearby. These stations can be useful if your university campus or workplace is outside the immediate CBD.
Bus stops around Melbourne Central and Lonsdale Street give you another option for getting around. Having several forms of public transport nearby means you can choose a route based on where you need to go and the time of day.
For your weekly food shop, Coles Melbourne Central and Woolworths Melbourne Central are nearby.
Having supermarkets within easy reach can be especially useful if you’re living in a studio or shared apartment and plan to cook regularly.
With Melbourne’s cafe culture being such a big part of city life, you’ll also have plenty of other options to try as you explore the surrounding streets.
Emporium Melbourne and QV Melbourne are also within walking distance, giving you more choices for shopping and everyday errands.
For fresh produce and a more traditional market experience, you can head to Queen Victoria Market.
Carlton Gardens is another nearby green space and can be a good option when you want to get out of your room for a while.
The CBD also has plenty of restaurants, cafes and other social spots, so you’ll have lots of options once you start getting familiar with the area.
It gives you a quiet place to read, work on assignments or spend a few hours studying outside your accommodation.
The range of rooms also gives you some flexibility. You can go for a shared apartment if keeping costs down matters most, or pay more for a private studio if having your own space is a priority.
Before you book, compare the current weekly rent, room setup, included bills, facilities and travel time to your university. Once those basics work for you, living in the centre of Melbourne can make it much easier to get around and make the most of your time as a student.

I’m now completing my second year of living at Scape, and it has genuinely been a positive experience. While the accommodation may seem a bit pricey at first, it does offer much more than just a place to stay. The regular free events, activities, and day trips make it easy to explore new places, meet people, and make friends, especially when you're new to the city. The facilities, as some reviews mention, are on the smaller side, but so is our building. In my year and a half here, I have seen the manager putting in efforts to improve it with new furniture and equipment. Plus, the location is right in the heart of the city. Everything is within walking distance and really convenient and accessible. The staff here in Scape have been consistently kind, approachable, and supportive throughout my stay. It’s always pleasant to meet them and have a chat every time I walk past the reception. Whenever I had a concern, it was addressed promptly and professionally. A special mention goes to our manager, Sajid, who has always been proactive in checking in with residents and personally ensuring that any issues were resolved. Overall, I would highly recommend Scape to students, particularly those moving to the city for the first time. It provides not only a convenient place to live but also a welcoming community that makes settling into a new environment much easier.

stayed here for my exchange and it was a horrible experience the rubbish disposal chute is so smelly you would gag every time you went to throw rubbish the lift lobby stinks too, probably due to the rubbish chute they have 2 lifts for a 30 floor building and IT BREAKS DOWN almost monthly, leaving 1 working lift for god knows how many people the staff still have the audacity to charge us for cleaning fee when i checked out, despite the fact that when i checked in to my room, there were long hair stuck to the bathroom shower door, dust everywhere and literally bugs on the bed that i had to sleep on the couch for my first night nowhere near professionally cleaned when i check in so what is the cleaning fee even for? STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND STAYING HERE, this review is not for compensation, it is to save others a horrible experience.

Ive loved my experience living at scape, the location the facilities & the community all contributed to the amazing uni experience I anticipated before moving to Melbourne. Thank you to the team, especially Majmud, Sajid, Noman & Nathan for all your efforts in making my house a home.

Been “forced” to live here for 6–7 months. Worst place ever. Overpriced rooms, junky ahh facilities, and nearly $600 a week for a tiny box LOL.Oh, and let’s not forget that during the 6 months I lived there, there wasn’t a single normal week. Sometimes the elevators were out of service, sometimes the water pipes were leaking, and sometimes the Wi-Fi password would randomly change after just a few days. Thanks god,the second I turned 18, I moved out immediately.

Stayed here during my studies and had a good experience :) rooms are simple but for the location it's a good price. Staff were also friendly and helpful, really enjoyed the events :))
