The location and safety of the building are its biggest strengths. The staff are friendly, and the building is generally kept clean. However, the private living spaces could definitely be improved. For example, there is no AC in the rooms, the walls are mostly gray and feel a bit dull, the laundry facilities do not work well, and the windows are quite transparent, meaning you can easily see directly into neighboring units if they face the building. It is also important to note that they require a minimum lease commitment, especially considering it is not a cheap place to stay. Also, upon arrival, I was told by the RAs in the orientation that there were rats in the kitchen. That said, the building does make a strong effort to build community among residents and regularly hosts events, which is a nice benefit.

I stayed here for half a year during my whole exchange period in Australia and overall had a really good experience. The location is very convenient and feels safe. It is close to the Uni Melb and even a fire station, which adds to the sense of security. Located in Carlton, it’s close to the city while still being quiet, which I really appreciated. It’s also conveniently close to two tram stations, making it easy to get around. There are also a lot of social events, which made it easy to meet people. Also, Clara at reception was super nice. She helped me with both check-in and check-out, and the whole process was smooth. She is always helpful and friendly as well. One downside about living in a student accom is that during the busy semester period, the shared bathrooms can sometimes be gross (toilet not flushed, toilet paper on the ground). Another issue is that some residents don’t know how to clean up after themselves in the common spaces. However, I do see that the building staff are trying keep everything clean and maintain the facilities as often as possible. Overall, a solid choice for student accommodation.

It was an excellent living experience. I stayed level8 here for a year, and the staff Clara were incredibly easygoing and friendly. The skyline view here is amazing, and during the New Year, it is undoubtedly a one-of-a-kind spot to watch the fireworks. There are many great activities and wonderful members. My sincere thanks to all the staff and members for giving me such a memorable stay. You can enjoy beautiful sunsets and glowing evening skies here — it truly is a stunning place.

I stayed at this Unilodge last year, and my mental health completely fell apart. Even for student accommodation, nobody seem to respect the public common areas. Ive lived in other Unildoges around Australia, and this one was by far the absolute worst. Firstly kitchen. I almost never used the kitchen. The handful of times I checked it out (in preperation to cook), it was disgustingly dirty. Food everywhere, unwashed pots/pans. Even once when I was getting a drink from vending machine I saw a little mouse running about....On top of this, most of the rooms are so tiny, I couldn't even imagine how people can even store pots/pans. Secondly, theres one mini fridge of each level, to share with god knows how many students are on each floor. Frankly, it would be better if the fridges were removed, because it only gives us false hope to have some amount of fridge storage. Theres so much fighting over the space, and people stealing that its just absolutely not worth it at all. Thirdly, front desk tried to pressure me into writing a good review when I was in the process of leaving. So I suspect a lot of the "positive" reviews were posted because of this reason. I wouldnt be surprised if many of them were bribed. The owners of unilodge should be ashamed of the living conditions they put desperate students in.

Spent almost a year living in this building. I came when I was still relatively new in Melbourne, and the warm community within the residents really helped me settle. Although I was rarely part of their events, just seeing other people from different sides of the world going through the same thing as me really calmed me down and helped me become more comfortable in Melbourne than ever. Thanks to all the RAs and receptionists, with a special shout out to Clara and Adi so being so understanding throughout my time here. All the best UniLodge!
