Abode York, york

I’m giving this place 2 stars for these reasons: 1) great location, 2) roof above my head. Nothing else from this place deserves a star: staff is passive aggressive; silverfish was a problem in multiple rooms in Pullman House (mine and my friend’s); common room is only open until 10pm and you’ve only got between 4-5pm to collect your parcel on a weekday. In case you lose your keys, there’s a whopping charge of 30 odd pounds and in case you lock out and need assistance getting into your room outside of working hours- same charge on top. Basically, you get very little for the price you pay, there’re more appealing options in York and especially if you’re a UoY student, student accommodation is nicer and more to value. PROS: city walls are nearby, big shops as well

Great location but absolutely no character or any nice amenities. This is a comfortable, but totally soulless place to live as a student. It costs +£950 a month for a 10 x 6 room with a shower and a toilet. There are better options.

I’ve really enjoyed living here and have loved every minute of it. The staff are always so warm, welcoming and friendly, and they’ve made this place feel like home. It’s such a shame to see Annabelle go — she has been such a lovely part of the team and will be missed so much. I have stayed in abode for the past 2 years and have loved how kind all the staff are! Especially Annabelle, Joy and Julie! The rooms are very spacious and all the facilities are clean and very useful. I will miss living in Abode when I move out. Another perk which I love is how close it is to almost everything: city centre, university and supermarkets.

The best student accommodation in York. I used to live here in 2020-2021, and I was impressed by the excellent location, good facilities, and helpful staff. So I still chose the Home for Students after I moved to Scotland. Thanks to Joy, Annabelle, Julie, Lee et al.
