About this property
Living close to campus changes small parts of your day.
Walking back after a lecture, picking up groceries on the way home, or meeting friends without planning a long journey all become much easier once everything is nearby. That's one of the reasons many students look closely at where a property is located before comparing anything else.
Hillside House Sheffield, sits on Winter Street, close to the University of Sheffield and within reach of Sheffield Hallam University. The property offers both ensuite rooms and studio apartments, with electricity, gas, heating, water, and Wi-Fi included within the weekly rent.
A lot of the places students use during the week are already nearby.
Aldi is within easy reach for groceries, while HYGGE Fitzalan Square and Cafe Local are convenient places to stop for coffee. If you're eating out, Chop Shop Bar & Grill and The Wellington are both close to the property.
Students using the gym also have PureGym nearby. For evenings out, The Riverside and Sheffield Tap are among the pubs in the surrounding area.
The property is well placed for travelling around the city.
Public transport links nearby connect different parts of Sheffield, while the city centre and university buildings can also be reached without travelling far.
Accommodation is usually compared on more than one thing.
Room type matters, but so do the facilities available in the building and how easy it is to get to university each day. Hillside House Sheffield offers a choice between shared and self-contained accommodation while keeping everyday facilities in the same place.
The property accommodates en-suite rooms and studio units.
There are shared kitchen and living areas, but ensuite rooms have a private bathroom. Studio apartments have a private kitchen, bedroom and ensuite bathroom all in one, self-contained area.
The weekly rent comprises:
Electricity
Gas
Heating
Water
Wi-Fi
You’ll have all fees bundled together, so there are no separate utility bills to worry about when you move in.
Study areas, social spaces, and everyday facilities are available throughout the building.
Residents can make use of these shared areas alongside their own accommodation during the academic year.
Students looking at Hillside House Sheffield can choose between shared ensuite accommodation and self-contained studio apartments.
The two room categories suit different ways of living, so it's worth comparing the layouts before deciding which one best fits your plans for the academic year.
Each ensuite room includes a private bathroom, study desk, and storage, while the kitchen and living area are shared with other residents.

The Collegiate Campus and City Campus are connected by public transport, while many residents also choose to walk depending on where they're heading.
The property is also well placed for students attending the University of Sheffield International College, with the college located within the same university area.
Students rarely choose student accommodation in Sheffield for one reason alone.
The distance to campus, the type of room available, the facilities within the building, and the weekly rent all influence the final decision. Looking at those details together usually gives a clearer picture of whether a property suits the way you want to live during university.

I've lived here for almost a year now, and this place has made me feel at home when I first arrived in Sheffield and was feeling out of place. The staff are incredibly supportive and friendly. Plus, there are so many activities that I'm never bored.

Really friendly staff and great location! It's a pretty introverted accommodation, but we have many events and lots of free food (I just wish we would've had more events on the terrace while it was still warm). No cleaning of common areas, which can be tricky with shared flats, but maintenance is really quick. Love the coffee machine and common areas (study rooms, kitchen etc).

Honestly, this has been the best accommodation I’ve stayed in throughout my time in Sheffield! Being in my final year, I couldn’t have asked for a better place to live it’s made my last year so special! First off, the staff are absolutely amazing. They’re always so friendly, helpful, and quick to sort out anything you need. Their positive attitude genuinely brightens my day every time I walk in. Special shoutout to Sophie she’s been so kind and understanding, especially when I’ve been struggling mentally. She listens, supports, and always makes me feel heard. The security team are just as great super approachable and helped me move in so smoothly! Secondly, the study spaces here are a total win (especially the Dynamite Study Room). It’s quiet, peaceful, and honestly the perfect vibe to focus and get work done. I’m always more productive here than anywhere else. The amenities are another huge plus — the gym, free laundry, karaoke and games rooms, and even the coffee machine (a lifesaver during deadlines). There are always fun events going on and so many freebies it really feels like a community. And finally, the location couldn’t be better. It’s right in the heart of campus, super close to all Uni of Sheffield buildings, so I can get to lectures on time, grab food nearby, and still have time to rest. My room itself is so cozy it has the perfect lighting, soothing colours, and the dishwasher is honestly a game changer. It feels like home, and I’m genuinely so happy I chose to stay here for my final year!
