About this property
A room can look great in photos and still make everyday university life difficult. The location usually decides that. Grocery shopping, buses, libraries, lectures, and somewhere to eat after class all become part of the same routine.
Upper Quay House Gloucester stands on Quay Street in Gloucester's historic centre, close to the Cathedral and the Gloucester Docks. From here, you can reach shops, cafés, public transport and university facilities without spending half the day travelling across the city. If you're comparing Upper Quay House accommodation, this guide covers the location, room options, facilities and everything else worth checking before booking.
Address:
Quay Street
Gloucester GL1 2JD
United Kingdom
The property sits in Gloucester's Westgate area, one of the oldest parts of the city. Gloucester Cathedral is almost around the corner, while Gloucester Docks, King's Walk Shopping Centre and the city centre all sit within a short walk.
Gloucester Railway Station is around 13 minutes away on foot, making journeys to Bristol, Cheltenham, Cardiff and Birmingham much easier during weekends or holidays.
Students studying in Gloucester also have regular bus services available for trips to university campuses across the city.
Every student looks for something slightly different when choosing accommodation. Some care about reaching lectures quickly. Others focus on bills, room privacy or staying close to the city centre. Upper Quay House accommodation brings several of those things together in one location.
A City Centre Address
Quay Street places you close to Gloucester Docks, King's Walk, supermarkets, cafés and local bus routes. Daily errands fit naturally into the journey between university and home.
Private En-suite Rooms
Every bedroom includes its own bathroom, so you don't need to share shower facilities with flatmates. Kitchens remain communal, which also gives everyone somewhere to cook and spend time together.
Bills in One Payment
Electricity, heating, water, Wi-Fi and contents insurance all form part of the rent. That makes monthly budgeting much easier because there aren't separate household bills to organise.
Student-Friendly Facilities
Laundry facilities, secure bike storage and shared social areas are available inside the building, making everyday tasks much simpler.
Rail Connections Nearby
Gloucester Railway Station is within walking distance, so travelling home during holidays or visiting nearby cities doesn't require a long journey before the train even starts.
Upper Quay House accommodation offers en-suite rooms in shared student flats, making it a good choice if you'd like your own bathroom while sharing the kitchen and living space with other residents. Rent starts from £147 per week and already includes Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, water and contents insurance, so you won't have separate utility bills to organise.

The shared kitchens come fully equipped for everyday cooking, while the communal lounge gives everyone a place to eat together, catch up after lectures or spend time outside their rooms.
Room prices and availability can change throughout the year, especially before the start of the academic term, so it's worth checking the latest availability before booking.
Rent usually covers the everyday essentials, so there isn't much to organise after moving in.

Having everything under one payment also makes it easier to keep track of monthly spending.
University accommodation becomes more practical when the building covers everyday needs as well as the room itself.

King's Walk Shopping Centre and Gloucester Quays cover grocery shopping, clothes, electronics and everyday essentials. Westgate Street has independent cafés and local restaurants, while Gloucester Docks offers plenty of places to eat overlooking the waterfront. Gloucester Library is available if you need a quieter place to study, and the Cathedral grounds provide a quieter corner of the city when you want to step away from the main streets.
Most accommodation decisions look similar on paper; the major difference usually appears after classes begin. If campus, shopping, transport and the places you visit every week all stay nearby, everyday life feels much easier. Upper Quay House Gloucester brings those together in one part of the city, making it a practical option for students who want to spend less time travelling and more time getting on with university.

Good accom especially for the price. Easy to get into the town, close to both city campus and oxstalls. Special thankyou to Cerys who is always so lovely and deals with any problems really well.

Upper Quay House is a conducive and serene place to reside as a student. It is equipped with adequate facilities. Specifically, if you ask me of one major reason I chose Quay House over other accommodations, I would confidently tell you that it is well-insulated from cold. In fact, you might not need to turn on your heater on most occasions during cold season. Another admirable thing about this accommodation is that the administrators are really friendly and charming. They give listening ears to the tenants and attend to issues promptly. You can give it a trial and I can assure you that there will be no regret.
