About this property
Many students end up spending more time in their accommodation than they expected. Lecture hours change, assignments pile up, friends drop by, and some evenings disappear into group projects or takeaway dinners. Where you live quickly becomes part of that routine.
Charlton Court Bath sits on Lower Bristol Road, a part of the city that keeps university life, transport links, supermarkets, and everyday essentials within relatively easy reach. The property includes both en-suite rooms and studio apartments, so you are not limited to one style of living.
Students searching for Charlton Court student accommodation in Bath usually compare it with properties that are closer to the city centre. However, one advantage here is that practical amenities are nearby without being surrounded by the busiest parts of Bath.
Address: Lower Bristol Road, Bath, BA2 3ES, United Kingdom
The area around Bath Charlton Court stays busy throughout the academic year because of its mix of students, local residents, shops, and transport links.
Bellotts Road bus stop is nearby, which helps when the weather is less appealing for walking. SouthGate Bath and Mero Retail Park are useful for bigger shopping trips, whether that means replacing kitchen essentials, buying stationery, or picking up things for your room.
There are also cafés, supermarkets, takeaways, and gyms already built into the local area rather than places that require planning around transport.
Students usually compare a few things before booking a room: how easy it is to get to campus, whether bills are included, and what life looks like once lectures finish.
A few reasons why Charlton Court Bath appears on many shortlists:
Students reading Charlton Court reviews regularly mention the room choices, location, and shared facilities as reasons for considering the property.
Accommodation choices usually hinge on one question: do you want your own kitchen or not?
Some residents prefer having flatmates around and sharing communal spaces. Others would rather keep everything within their own room.
These rooms include a private bathroom, and you share the kitchen and living areas.

Living in Charlton Court student halls is usually more than just about the room itself.
You get to know the people who use the same kitchen, the routes everyone takes to campus, and which corner of the common room fills up first during revision season.
The shared areas naturally become part of everyday life. Someone is usually making dinner, finishing coursework, or catching up with friends after lectures. That balance between private space and shared facilities is one reason many students consider Charlton Court Bath when exploring accommodation options in Bath.
Most students pay attention to room size when booking accommodation. A few weeks after moving in, it is usually the practical details that matter more.
Bath Spa University: Many Charlton Court residents study at Bath Spa. Buses from nearby stops run towards the Newton Park campus, so getting to lectures, seminars, or library sessions is part of a routine that many students already follow throughout the week.
University of Bath: Students heading to the University of Bath also use Charlton Court as a base during term time. Public transport links connect Lower Bristol Road with the main campus, making it possible to reach lectures, sports facilities, society events, and study spaces without needing a car.

When I moved into my studio flat in Charlton Court in September 2025, I received a warm welcome from the staff, and the check-in process was easy and stress-free. Initially, living here was a significant change, and I had to adapt, but I was able to overcome a difficult period with my mental health because I knew I could always talk to the staff at the front desk. It’s important to note that Charlton Court displays posters throughout the building with helpline numbers, so help is always available. Although I have never used the study room, it is always in use, and it is good to see people utilising the facilities. One area I would like to see improved significantly is the laundry facilities. Circuit Laundry manages the machines, and it's worth mentioning that Circuit Laundry probably sets the prices. To enhance the experience, I suggest putting a poster in the laundry room reminding residents to empty their pockets before starting a load, as the machines can get quite dirty. Apart from this, I enjoy living at Charlton Court and recommend it if you are looking to be close to Bath Spa University's Locksbrook Campus.

Great location next to Lidl, easy access to bus and train stops, the city centre is a 20-min walk, the premium en-suite room is quiet, cosy and spacious. The reception is excellent. There are 2 downsides. I lived on the third floor and water would get warmer easily (but it can still be adjusted to be colder), and the room would become like a greenhouse in the summer (be prepared to bring a fan). In my block there was no lift, but using the stairs is doable (there are only 3 floors). Also, be prepared that the first rent installments are monthly-based, but for each installment you pay the amount corresponding to two months. That leaves you with no installments to pay over the summer months.

I don’t see any recent reviews of Charlton court so I thought I would give my two cents- I think all the reviews on here are from before the remodel, Charlton Court is a lovely place to live. The outside doesn’t look great, But compared to a lot of the other offsite accommodations it is one of the best. The rooms are a good size, the bathrooms are a good size. The kitchen spaces vary in size, That are a few that are massive, The most common size are very comfortable and there are some that are smaller but are still very comfortable. Everyone gets at least two fridges in the kitchen with a hob, microwave, kettle, and plenty of room for kitchen storage. The day staff, the night staff and reception are really friendly, and always very friendly and understanding no matter how many problems I’ve pestered with them with. Most of my issues have been with the website but reception always very understanding and try their best to help anyway they can. Over all I would very highly recommend living here, The location is great the city centre, less than 20 minute walk. You live right next to Lidl and despite the main road outside, it’s in a really cosy spot.

Charlton Court was a deeply disappointing experience, and I would not recommend it to students. When I moved in, the flat was unclean and the bins were still full from the previous tenants, completely unacceptable for an accommodation advertised as student-ready. Even worse, Unite Students mistakenly took double my rent payment, which emptied my bank account and left me with no money to live on. I immediately raised the issue and made it clear that I urgently needed this money, especially as I was due to move out within two weeks. Despite this, Unite Students failed to provide updates, acted extremely slowly, and only processed the refund nearly two weeks later. The money then took an additional week to reach my account. This situation left me in an extremely vulnerable financial position, with no concern shown for my wellbeing or basic needs. Unite Students offered no apology, took no accountability, and showed no urgency in resolving the issue. Their negligence meant that I had no money for food and no way to travel home after my tenancy ended. The way they handled this was unprofessional, careless, and completely unacceptable.

i wake up every morning with back pain and haven’t slept through a whole night without waking up numerous times making me miss lectures 😍 you’d think for an accommodation and the extortionate price (basically a grand a month for a 12sqm room) they would be able to get some semi decent mattresses that don’t feel like sleeping on straight up rocks. Loan payments don’t line up with rent payments leaving me a grand out of pocket so i can’t even get a mattress topper
