I took over a six-month tenancy here from a couple. They told me that they were no longer students at the time they transferred the contract to me. In that case, were they legally allowed to continue living in student accommodation? At the time, I was still enrolled as a student. However, I had some personal issues to deal with, and I was also waiting for a refund from another student accommodation contract. At the same time, I had an essay deadline approaching. Therefore, I tried to communicate with the reception to ask whether it would be possible to delay the rent payment. The manager, Densie, was very strict and insisted that I make the payment immediately. I used my Chinese bank card to withdraw £800 in cash from an ATM on two separate days, because the daily withdrawal limit was £800. I then deposited the cash into my Scottish bank account and paid part of the rent first. However, the manager was extremely strict about the completeness and immediacy of the rent payment. I put my essay aside and paid the remaining rent as quickly as possible. Looking back at the whole process now, I feel that this is a profit-driven company. It does not seem suitable for student life during the academic year.

Staff are helpful and friendly and location is good however the heat on the upper floors is absolutely mental, my room got to temperatures of over 30 degrees during spring and summer. Lots of other residents complained but very little was done. It honestly made me feel unwell with how hot my room would get and the building has very little airflow or ventilation. If just staying through winter it might be okay. There’s also only 2 washing machines for over a hundred people and so you have to wait ages usually. They also don’t seem very clean at all.
