Moving into Scape Merivale has honestly been one of the most positive housing experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely welcomed and supported — something that isn’t always guaranteed when you’re navigating student accommodation, study pressures, and life changes all at once. Natasha, the Operations Manager, has been incredible from the very beginning. She didn’t just answer my questions — she actually listened. She treated my situation with respect, kindness, and patience, and made the whole process feel smooth instead of stressful. That kind of support makes a huge difference when you’re settling into a new place, and I really appreciated how approachable and understanding she was. When I moved in on the 26th March 2026, Trinity and Rhiannon were just as amazing. They were warm, friendly, and genuinely happy to help. They didn’t rush me or make me feel like an inconvenience — they made sure I felt comfortable, settled, and confident in my new space. Their kindness stood out immediately, and it set the tone for what living here is actually like: supportive, human, and community‑focused. What I’ve noticed most is that the team here doesn’t treat residents like numbers. They treat you like a person unlike other student accommodations in Brisbane I have stayed at. They check in, they smile, they remember details, and they create an environment where you feel safe and looked after. For me, that sense of stability and care means a lot. I’m really grateful to be living at Scape Merivale. If you’re a student looking for a place where the staff genuinely care, where the environment feels welcoming, and where you’re supported from day one, I can honestly recommend this place. It’s been a really positive start, and I’m looking forward to the rest of my time here.

I stayed at Scape Merivale on a 12-month contract, and for the first 7–8 months, everything was excellent. The reception team was professional, respectful, and extremely helpful , especially JK, who set a very high standard for customer service. I was so satisfied that I even rebooked for another year. Unfortunately, the experience completely deteriorated after a new staff member, Bryan, joined reception. In all my years of dealing with customer service across different countries, I have never encountered someone so unprofessional in a front-desk role. The communication was dismissive, the attitude was unnecessarily hostile, and basic courtesy was completely lacking. Every interaction felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. Front desk staff represent the face of an accommodation provider. When that role is handled without empathy, professionalism, or basic respect, it damages the entire reputation of the place, no matter how good the facilities are. It is genuinely disappointing that one individual’s conduct can undo months of positive experience and drive residents to reconsider staying. Management seriously needs to review the standard of service being provided at reception, because the difference before and after this staffing change is night and day. I would have highly recommended Scape Merivale before. Now, I cannot.

Review of My Stay at Scape Premium Studio View I stayed in a Premium Studio View, and while the experience had its highlights, there were significant shortcomings that need to be addressed. The room itself was spacious with a stunning view, and I appreciated that the window could open—something rare in other Scape locations. The shared facilities were excellent, with modern and well-maintained common areas. The location is another strong point—exceptional and very convenient. However, my stay was plagued by several issues: • Arrival Nightmare: I arrived late at night, only to find the door locked with no staff on-site. Without phone coverage or Wi-Fi, I was stranded outside with all my luggage. Thankfully, my driver managed to call the emergency line, and a security guard eventually arrived to let me in. But that was it—no towels or bedding were provided, despite the fact that I had paid extra for them. I had to sleep with insufficient warmth in freezing conditions. The lack of concern from the staff was shocking; despite emailing them beforehand to confirm their availability, I received no response until a week later with an unapologetic excuse about having too many emails. • Temperature Control Issues: While advertised as having air conditioning, it was merely a fan that emitted a strong musty odor, even after requesting the filter to be cleaned. The cold weather during my stay made it unbearable, and the inability to adjust the temperature was frustrating. • Bathroom Problems: The bathroom had a persistent unpleasant smell from the plumbing that was never resolved during my stay. • Cooking Inconveniences: Every time I cooked, the extractor fan would turn on automatically and stay running for nearly 30 minutes, producing loud noise. Even heating something as simple as a piece of bread triggered this, making cooking unnecessarily unpleasant. • Frequent False Fire Alarms: False alarms were a regular disruption, going off at all hours, including as late as 1 a.m. On some occasions, this happened weekly, requiring me to evacuate multiple floors repeatedly for no reason. • Wi-Fi Troubles: Initially, the Wi-Fi required daily authentication with a password, which was very inconvenient. Thankfully, this issue was eventually fixed. On a positive note, the modern design of the facilities and the beautiful aesthetic of the residence were commendable. I also want to highlight the helpfulness of the staff member on my last day, who assisted me with the strict cleaning policy during checkout, which otherwise felt overly rigid and unfair. In summary, while the property has great potential with its spacious rooms, excellent location, and modern facilities, the lack of proper customer service, unresolved maintenance issues, cooking restrictions, and frequent disruptions significantly detract from the overall experience. It’s a nice place but with serious shortcomings that should not occur at this price point.

I recently happened to come across some reviews for Scape Merivale, so I wanted to share my own experience because it has been quite the opposite. Specifically, I want to highlight Bryan and other team members at the reception. When I had a persistent noise issue with a resident, they didn't ignore my voice; instead, they listened consistently and tried to resolve the problem that was ongoing over the past two months with a resident who live in a same apartment. Thanks to their consistent follow-up, the issue was eventually resolved. It’s sad to see someone has lack of respect towards others… Furthermore, the management team usually charges $280 for full room cleaning for moving-out, however Bryan did inspection and checked room carefully and reduced cleaning fees. That is because I put extra effort into deep-cleaning for my room and kept an high level of cleaning standard. Thus, he fairly applied the policy where residents only had to pay the $66 cleaning fee for the common area. This shows that he is a professional and kind towards residents who take care of their living space. Thus I do disagree with some opinions. Also, I am quite unsure the reason behind other residents are complaining about them. On the other hand, I occasionally felt that some residents here seem to have lack of basic common sense, basic manners, and consideration for other residents (unfortunately some African residents here has very rude and disrespectful attitudes towards other residents)🙂 To strengthen my argument, I lived in several countries and experienced different living environments so based on that background, I feel like some Africans here have lack of basic common sense and manners. I also lived in Paris, where has much more cultural and racial diversity than Brisbane. I’ve also interacted with African-French people, and they are not that rude. Compared to that experience in France, I felt like those African residents shows extremely arrogant and rude attitude towards other residents here. Didn’t they have a proper education and basic manners before they came to study abroad or work in Australia…? Moreover, I’ve seen some residents repeatedly ignore rules by forcing oversized trash into small bin boxes and that often cause the blocking entire building’s chute system. Moreover, some residents park vehicles in prohibited areas causing obstructions and drawing complaints from the local neighborhood. It is unfair to blame the staff when they are constantly cleaning up the mess after some residents who has lack of basic common sense and manners. I feel extremely difficult to understand their behaviour. Please show some respect towards other people🙂 In reality, much of the frustration I experienced here did not simply come from the staff or facility itself, but more often it came from a minority of residents who seem to show very little consideration and respect towards other residents in a shared living environment. Simple things like ignoring basic rules for waste disposal or parking often create unnecessary problems for everyone else. While the staff work incredibly hard to manage the property, the facility itself is showing the age. I understand that frequent fire alarm maintenances and water pipes replacements are necessary for safety and maintain the perfect condition of facilities, but having these disruptions several times a week during the day makes it very difficult to maintain a normal daily life. It would be a huge relief if these essential works were scheduled for late night or early morning to minimize the impact on residents. There also seems to be a 'lottery' with the AC units, some works perfectly, while others are temperamental. Overall, despite these challenges, my experience here has been largely positive thanks to the staff. With a few improvements to the facilities and building management, Scape Merivale could easily become one of good student accommodations in Brisbane.
Gab
Scam for money charging $350-400/week to share a tiny room that aircon does not work and put in many maintenance requests nothing, with a stranger worse if they messy plus a cleaning fee. Took forever to receive bond refund, asked British receptionist knew nothing. 1 Top tip never stay here even all my friends want to move out
