About this property
First impressions matter, especially when you've just arrived in a new city with two suitcases and a timetable you barely understand. Mercury Point Southampton keeps that adjustment simple. Solent University, the city centre, supermarkets and bus routes all fall within the same part of Southampton, so the first few weeks feel far less overwhelming.
The room setup is equally practical. Every resident gets a private bedroom and en-suite bathroom, while the shared kitchen becomes the place where flatmates cook, chat, celebrate birthdays or argue over whose turn it is to wash the pans. That balance explains why Mercury Point student accommodation attracts plenty of first-year students every year.
Students looking through Mercury Point student halls often want shared accommodation without sharing absolutely everything. Mercury Point strikes that balance well.
Address:
Mercury Point
20 Duke Street
Southampton SO14 3ET
United Kingdom
The Mercury Point Southampton address puts you on the edge of the city centre rather than out on the outskirts. Westquay, Oxford Street, Ocean Village and Solent University all sit within walking distance, so plenty of residents leave the bus pass in their pocket more often than they expected.
A university room becomes part of your everyday routine very quickly. You'll notice the walk to lectures, the nearest supermarket and your favourite coffee stop long before you notice anything else.
Solent University takes roughly ten minutes on foot. University of Southampton students usually catch a direct bus, with regular services running throughout the day.
The rent already includes electricity, gas, heating, water and Wi-Fi. Nothing extra arrives through the letterbox halfway through the semester, which makes monthly budgeting far easier.
The kitchen often becomes the busiest room in the flat. Dinner turns into conversations, revision breaks become tea breaks, and flatmates usually get to know each other there before anywhere else. That's why shared student halls Mercury Point appeal to students who want company without giving up their own bedroom.
Westquay handles everything from groceries to clothes shopping. Tesco Express and Sainsbury's cover the smaller food shop when the fridge starts looking empty. Palmerston Park gives you somewhere quieter after a full day on campus.
You'll also see people searching for halls Mercury Point, halls of residence Mercury Point or student halls of residence Mercury Point before booking. Those searches all lead back to the same property, known for its central location and straightforward room setup.
Living accommodation Mercury Point focuses on one room type instead of dozens of similar layouts. That keeps the decision simple.

People usually remember Mercury Point student accommodation for the little things after a few months: walking to campus instead of rushing for a bus, bumping into flatmates in the kitchen, or finishing a food shop without turning it into a long trip across the city. Those everyday details shape the experience more than any facilities list ever could.
Nobody wants to spend half the morning travelling across Southampton before the first lecture. That's one reason Mercury Point Southampton catches attention. Several university buildings sit within a short distance, and regular buses fill the gaps for campuses a little further out.

Solent students can usually walk to campus in around ten minutes. Students attending the University of Southampton often rely on the city's regular bus network, with services running between the city centre and different campuses throughout the day. That flexibility explains why Mercury Point student accommodation in Southampton remains on the shortlist for students studying at more than one campus.
The first place many new residents learn is Westquay. It covers everything from clothes shopping to last-minute phone chargers and somewhere to eat after lectures. A supermarket trip usually ends there too, with Tesco Express and Lidl both nearby when the kitchen cupboards start looking empty.
Coffee plans rarely need much organising. Above Bar Street has no shortage of independent cafés, while pubs such as The Duke of Wellington and Scholars Arms become regular meeting spots after classes. Some evenings turn into dinner at Smokin' Barrels. Other days it's simply a quick drink before heading home.
Southampton Central Station sits close enough for weekends away or trips back home during term breaks. The coach station opens up cheaper travel if you're heading to another city on a student budget.
Not every free afternoon ends indoors. Southampton Common gives you plenty of space for a walk, a run or a picnic when the weather finally behaves. PureGym City Centre is another familiar stop for students who prefer a workout before lectures or after classes.
Revision doesn't always happen on campus either. Southampton Central Library offers another quiet place to study when you need a change of scenery.
Southampton General Hospital is within a reasonable journey if medical care ever becomes necessary.
A good location keeps proving its value long after move-in day. You notice it when you wake up late for class, need groceries at short notice or decide to meet friends without making complicated plans. That's why Mercury Point student accommodation continues to appeal to students across Southampton.

I walked past the building today and was surprised to see it boarded up, with security measures now in place. I was saddened to learn that it is scheduled for demolition due to fire safety concerns. I lived there for two years during university, and it provided everything I needed - comfortable accommodation, excellent facilities, and a great view from the 11th floor. I'm grateful to the staff for their consistent kindness and support, and to my flatmates for the unforgettable memories we shared. I'm sure many others will also feel its absence.

its worth for money, but be aware of slow staff, dirty kitchen cause of other roommate and room are very hot during summer, cloths washing is very expensive, they do not provide pillows & bedspread… no care taken by the housekeeping, its all down to students living in there and you might be lucky or might not … will end up with some really hard time with freezer full of rotten food , dirty hob, stinky alleys…

Good place to stay for your studies. Helpful staff. 24/7 security. Laundry facilities. Supermarket around the corner.

I've lived in this residence during 4 years and I've been very happy here throughout my academic career, the location is great and the staff have always helped me with everything. I just have to thank everyone for a great experience living here.

1. Best reception in Southampton. Don’t need to worry about missing your parcel. The reception will do everything for you, just lay down on the couch and wait to email, then receptionist will give you your parcel safely. 2. There is a parking lot downstairs. It’s convenient to park your car and wait for the Uber. 3. Best price. Small price, excellent experience. 4. Small but cozy rooms. 5. Big windows in shared kitchen, you can enjoy sunshine in there. I’m sure if I continue to study in Southampton, I will choose Mercury Point again.

Common questions
If an item in your flat has stopped working, please raise a maintenance request in the Unite Students App before you check-out. If we are aware of items that need repairing in advance, and there has been no malicious damage, you won't be charged.
No, subletting your room is not allowed. If you do wish to leave your contract early you will need to find a replacement tenant, and provide us with their details so that we can release you from your contract and create a new tenancy agreement for them.
No, unfortunately pets are not allowed. If you need a guide dog or working dog to assist you, please get in touch to discuss your options.
There are TVs in many of the communal areas, and some bedrooms include TVs too - you can check what's available at your property on your property page or in your welcome guide. You'll be sent a link to your welcome guide before you arrive. You will need a TV licence for your bedroom if you‚are watching TV live or on-demand, and if you have a TV licence for your bedroom this automatically covers the communal kitchen too. If you just want to watch TV in the communal kitchen, then you and your flatmates can arrange a single TV licence together. Students living in a studio will also need to arrange their own TV licence if you plan to watch TV live or on-demand.
