About this property
Some student accommodation becomes memorable because of its facilities. Other places stand out because of where they are. The Nest Nottingham manages to offer both an excellent city location and a range of room options that suit different ways of living. Whether you're moving to Nottingham for your first year, starting a postgraduate course or simply looking for somewhere more independent, this residence gives you a practical place to settle into university life.
Located on Derby Road, The Nest Nottingham accommodation places students close to both Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham, while keeping cafés, restaurants, supermarkets and the city centre within comfortable reach.
University life doesn't follow a single routine. Some mornings begin with early lectures, while other days disappear into coursework, part-time jobs or evenings spent with friends in the city centre. Having accommodation that adapts to those changing routines makes everyday life much easier.
That's what The Nest offers.
Unlike larger residences that focus mainly on communal living, The Nest gives students a wide variety of accommodation styles. If you enjoy living with friends, there are shared apartments available. If privacy matters more, the range of studio rooms allows you to create your own routine without sharing kitchens or bathrooms.
The property places a strong emphasis on independent living while maintaining a secure environment through CCTV, secure door entry and on-site security. It's a straightforward approach that appeals to students who want somewhere comfortable, practical and well connected rather than accommodation filled with unnecessary extras.
Living close to university is always useful, but having the rest of Nottingham within easy reach often makes an even bigger difference once term begins.
The Nest Nottingham Address
100–104 Derby Road
Nottingham NG1 5FB
Derby Road is one of those parts of Nottingham where student life blends naturally with everyday city life. Walk in one direction and you're heading towards university campuses. Walk in the other and you'll find independent cafés, restaurants, shops and the city centre.
Running everyday errands is refreshingly simple. Tesco is close by for grocery shopping, while Nottingham Central Library offers another place to work whenever you need a quieter environment than your room.
When lectures are over, there are plenty of ways to spend your free time. Coffee at 200 Degrees has become something of a student tradition, while nearby restaurants such as Zaap Thai are popular for evenings out. Nottingham's pub scene is equally varied, ranging from traditional venues like The Canalhouse and Fox & Grapes to more contemporary places such as The Hockley Arts Club.
Although Nottingham is a busy university city, there are still opportunities to escape the crowds. Bestwood Country Park provides a welcome change of scenery whenever you feel like spending a few hours outdoors.
Every student has their own priorities, but there are a few reasons why The Nest continues to appeal to students studying across Nottingham.
Students choose The Nest because it offers:
Choice of studios and shared apartments.
Convenient Derby Road location.
Easy access to Nottingham Trent University.
Good connections to the University of Nottingham campuses.
Secure door entry.
CCTV throughout the property.
On-site security.
Independent living options for a range of budgets.
The Nest provides accommodation for students who prefer either shared living or completely self-contained studios.

Whether you're someone who likes quiet afternoons in a café or weekends exploring the city with friends, there's plenty nearby that gradually becomes part of your everyday routine.
Every university city has cafés that students seem to gravitate towards, and Nottingham is no different. Some become revision spots, while others are simply where everyone ends up before morning lectures.
Popular nearby cafés include:

Independent convenience stores throughout the city centre
Running out of milk or needing ingredients for dinner rarely means travelling very far.
University life isn't always busy for the right reasons. Sometimes you simply need somewhere away from lectures, coursework and accommodation for an hour or two.
Nearby green spaces include:
Bestwood Country Park
Local gardens and public spaces across Nottingham
They're ideal for walking, reading outdoors or just taking a break from your screen.

Nearby places for quieter study include:
Nottingham Central Library
University libraries across both campuses
Changing your surroundings for a few hours can sometimes make long revision sessions much more productive.
Hopefully you'll never need it, but it's reassuring to know medical support isn't far away when you're living independently.

The Park Hospital
Local GP surgeries and pharmacies throughout Nottingham
Getting Around Nottingham

Some accommodation is designed around large social spaces and busy communal living. The Nest takes a slightly different approach by giving students greater flexibility over how they want to experience university.
If you enjoy having your own routine, one of the studios provides complete independence while keeping you connected to everything happening around the city. If you'd rather share your university experience with others, the apartment options offer a more communal style of living.
One of the biggest advantages of The Nest Nottingham student accommodation is its location. Derby Road places you between major university campuses and Nottingham city centre, making it easy to balance lectures, part-time work and social life without spending large parts of your day commuting.
The accommodation also suits students who value security. Features such as CCTV, secure door entry and on-site security provide reassurance throughout the academic year while allowing residents to focus on university life rather than practical concerns.
The best student accommodation often becomes something you stop thinking about. It simply works. Your journey to lectures is straightforward, shopping doesn't require planning, cafés become familiar faces, and the city gradually starts to feel like home.
That's exactly the kind of experience The Nest offers.
With a choice of studios and shared apartments, a convenient Derby Road location and excellent access to both Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham, The Nest Nottingham accommodation provides a comfortable base for students who want independence without losing touch with everything happening around them.
Whether you're beginning your first year or returning for another semester, The Nest offers a practical place to settle in and make the most of your time in Nottingham.

DO NOT RENT, the studio I lived in always had spiders and the whole room get dusty quickly. With the new letting company taking over Mezzino, I reached out 3 weeks ago for a replacement of keyfob and only received a reply now, and there is a significant price to pay as well. There is no social events or life, nor you can find support or any team members (although specifically mentioned on the website there is a 24/7 team, and the security room is on my floor)

I'm currently enjoying staying at the nest, I've been here two weeks. the location is great! you're a 5 min walk into the centre. you have other student accommodation a short walk away! local shops and restaurants 2 minutes away! parking is a little hard at times but mostly alright. it is expensive however its reasonable as the quality is high however, this does not include a gym or free washing facilities or a cinema room. This price only includes your room and common room. As they are all studios you are able to enjoy your own space. there is a group page in planning so that the residents can get to meet each other and meet up for movie nights, pizza nights and games in the common room. there is also some talk about if they might use their extra space for a gym or games room/cinema room which will definitely be exiting and definitely worth it however, this is not yet confirmed or promised. message me if you have any questions!

Location is great as it is a 5 minute walk to the city centre and ntu campus, and there are bus stops across the street for anyone attending the university of Nottingham. The studios are nice, secure and spacious but for me personally I don't think it was worth paying so much rent for it(£800 per month). It's great for those who want independence, however it does take a while for the staff to get back to you in regards to any issues you have, especially when it comes to leaks within your property. Overall, it is a great place to stay if you want to live alone as well as having a great study and social environment.

I made a reservation at this place yesterday and they didn't send me the check-in information; nobody responded to me through any of the customer service channels. I stood in front of the place asking locals to contact someone, but nobody could. I'm still trying to get a refund because they haven't responded yet. This is a lack of respect for us. I paid in advance through Booking.com, I struggled to get there with my luggage, only to be stuck there without support in the cold.

I have been staying in The Nest for 2 years now. The location is great and very close to NTU. The room size and facilities are a good value for money. The city centre is just a 7mins walk and nearby Tesco is just at a stone's throw distance. A special mention for the manager who takes care of the student needs.

Common questions
Yes please make it clear on the application form who you would like to share with. It is best to book early so that this can be arranged as it is subject to availability.
We try our utmost to allocate likeminded students together (eg based on year of study). Single-sex apartments are also available. However, this is subject to the type of rooms booked by our students and may not always be possible.
To allow you to avoid paying one big lump sum and to co-inside with student loan payments, rent is collected in instalments at different times of the year depending on the property you are living in. Please review your license agreement which clearly details rent due dates for your property. Full details are available on request from your chosen property.
