With electricity, water and Wi-Fi included in the rent, along with an on-site gym, shared spaces, laundry facilities and secure bike storage, Athena Hall accommodation covers many of the practical requirements of student life.
Address: 3 University Avenue, Ipswich IP3 0FR, United Kingdom
The Athena Hall address puts students close to the University of Suffolk and Ipswich Waterfront. The short distance to campus is useful for students who want to walk to lectures rather than depend on daily public transport.
University Avenue Bus Stop is located outside the property, while Ipswich Railway Station and Ipswich Bus Station provide further options for travelling around the town or heading elsewhere during weekends and university breaks.
The waterfront area is also close by, with cafés, restaurants and places to meet friends after classes. For groceries and other everyday items, students can make use of supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Co-op Food, Marks & Spencer Food and Aldi.
Students who want some time away from university can visit Ipswich Waterfront Gardens, Holywells Park or Christchurch Park. These provide open areas for walking, sitting outdoors or taking a break from coursework.
The location is one of the main advantages of Athena Hall accommodation, particularly for students studying at the University of Suffolk. However, the property also has several features that can make everyday student living easier.
Some of the main reasons to consider Athena Hall include:
University of Suffolk is 0.63 miles away.
Choice of en-suite rooms and private studios.
Electricity, water and high-speed Wi-Fi included in the weekly rent.
A dedicated study area in every room.
On-site gym for residents.
Shared social spaces.
On-site laundry facilities.
Secure bike storage.
On-site security.
Gallagher Wellbeing App for resident wellbeing support.
University Avenue Bus Stop located outside the property.
Ipswich town centre and waterfront within easy reach.
For students, having these facilities in one place can reduce some of the small practical concerns that come with moving away from home. There is no need to arrange separate electricity or water accounts, while the on-site facilities give residents options for studying, exercising and managing everyday chores without leaving the building.
Athena Hall accommodation offers four room categories, ranging from en-suite rooms to private studios. The en-suite options work well for students who are happy to share kitchen and living areas, while the studio gives residents their own self-contained space.

Weekly prices can vary depending on room availability and tenancy length.
Every room includes furnishings, storage and a dedicated study area. Electricity, water and high-speed Wi-Fi are also included within the weekly rent.
Bronze, Gold and Silver En-suite rooms give students a private bedroom and bathroom while the kitchen and other shared areas are used with other residents.
This setup can suit students who want their own bathroom but still enjoy the social side of shared accommodation. The different price points also give students some flexibility when working out their accommodation budget.
The Studio offers a more private style of living, with residents having their own self-contained accommodation.
It starts from £158 per week, making it the most expensive of the listed room categories but still relatively close in price to the en-suite options. A studio can suit students who prefer having their own space for studying, cooking and relaxing.
One of the practical points to consider when comparing accommodation is how many household costs are already covered by the rent.
At Athena Hall, the weekly rent includes:
Electricity
Water
High-speed Wi-Fi
Having these costs included means students do not have to set up separate electricity or water payments after moving in. It also makes it easier to work out the overall cost of accommodation before the academic year begins.
The facilities at Athena Hall cover several parts of the student routine, from studying and exercising to laundry and storage.
Every room has a dedicated study area, giving students a private place to work on assignments, attend to coursework or revise before exams.
Having a desk within the room also means students can work around their own timetable without needing to find an external study space every time they have something to finish.
Shared social areas give residents somewhere to spend time outside their rooms.
These spaces can be useful for meeting other residents, chatting with flatmates or taking a break after lectures.
Students living at Athena Hall have access to:
On-site gym
Gallagher Wellbeing App
The on-site gym means residents can fit exercise around their lectures without adding another journey to their daily routine. The wellbeing app provides an additional source of support during the academic year.
The property includes:
This gives residents additional support while living at the residence and contributes to a secure environment throughout the year.
On-site laundry facilities are available to residents, so everyday washing can be handled within the property rather than requiring a separate trip elsewhere in Ipswich.
Students who cycle can use the secure bike storage at the residence. This can be useful for University of Suffolk students who prefer cycling to campus or using a bike for shorter journeys around Ipswich.
The weekly rent includes:
Electricity
Water
High-speed Wi-Fi
These services cover some of the main household requirements students need from their accommodation, while the Wi-Fi supports coursework, streaming and staying in touch with friends and family.
Living at Athena Hall means students at the University of Suffolk can keep their daily commute short. The university is just 0.63 miles from the residence, making it possible to walk to campus rather than rely on buses for most days.

DO NOT be mislead by the photos on their website, the bike storage image? 1. bike storage is outside and is full of mouldy mattresses. 2. there is bird droppings covering the whole floor of the caged outdoor bike storage, do not be fooled by the photos online. if you're interested book a viewing and see for yourself. Not to mention vending machines do not exist here, and the laundry room looks nothing like the images. do not waste your money.

Overpriced, a lot of issues which they won't fix or in best case scenario can take entire weeks until they do something. Hot water is a miracle if all the surrounding rooms are occupied and today, because of the rain, I woke up with a big puddle inside my room which ruined all my expensive drawing papers and work. Try to avoid and look for other options.

WORST PLACE EVER... The maintenance was horrific, and sometimes it would take months to get a response due to having one maintenance man and over 500+ students living there. There was a flood throughout B block and many people's items were permanently damaged, and there was nothing that they could do about it as Athena wouldn't help. There was damage to furniture where it had been used for years, and not upgraded, damages such as chips and scratches on all of the walls, and ceilings, and the windows had bad insulation so there would be cracks in the wall, and occasional mould, especially if it rained. The windows don't properly open either, so in the summer your room feels like you're living in a sauna, and there would be constant problems with hot water when you wanted to use the shower. The worst thing was that the top of the door fell and the nails nearly hit my partner in the head (pictures are added to this) The staff stopped being friendly when you mention anything about leaving the accommodation or any financial questions, and would be very wishy washy about any information that could help you. Do not move in here unless you want constant maintenance problems, unfriendly staff, and money problems.

My daughter has been here for 2 years. Great uni and accommodation, but had to mark it down due to the parking facilities. I have dropped off and picked up my daughter several times, and received parking fines more than 4 times. Generally, its because I have left the car park 5 minutes after my ticket time, even though I had vacated the space on time. Another time, I had a ticket for improper parking, as the space was 6 inches too short for my vehicle. I was parked touching the wall, so couldn't have squeezed in any more. Have contested all tickets but ended up having to pay. Ipserve who run the parking seems to be a money making scam

There.s a smell of weed everywhere around the property and nobody does anything to stop students from doing drugs. Furthermore the landlord and company has treated the students unfairly as they refuse to refund the full amount of the last installment of the rent, after it was deemed that nobody had to pay it. Would not recommend
