Ashlin House, cork

It is really close to UCC main campus. The whole dormitory environment is very new. Hot water can be enjoyed at any time. The mattress is very large and soft. Sound insulation is also good.

Mixed feelings regarding my stay here. The position of the accommodation is easy to reach from the center even with a brief walk, although staff was unwelcoming at check in. Don’t expect a warm welcome. The room has a decent size and was clean, but the shower has low pressure and the quality of the mattress was so poor, we could feel the springs digging in our back. We were not expecting the Ritz from a student accommodation but these are easy fixes. At check out the other member of the team was helpful (thank you!), keeping our backpacks as well till 5pm (although they were kept next to the desk for anyone to take). Surprised this has 4+ stars.

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the current conditions of the accommodation where I am staying. From the very first day, I noticed that the shared kitchen was completely unequipped — there were no pots, cups, cutlery, or even dishwashing liquid. I reported this immediately and was informed that these items would be provided. However, until now, nothing has been delivered. Furthermore, the cleanliness of the shared spaces, especially the kitchens and hallways, is far below acceptable standards the ovens are completely disgusting. It is disappointing that such basic aspects are being neglected in a residence intended for long-term stays. I must also express my concern regarding the attitude of the staff. Unfortunately, they have shown very little willingness to help or address the issues reported by guests. There seems to be a general lack of attention and care in the service being provided.

I have stayed at Ashlin, Broga, and Coleman, so I know that Ashlin is the worst of the student accommodations being rented out as hotel space by far. The kitchen was filthy and had virtually no utensils, dishes, or anything of the sort. There was no soap to wash what dirty dishes were there. Then the morning I was meant to check out—over an hour before the deadline for me to vacate the room—a woman barged into my room with a man in tow while I was undressed! When I asked what was going on she said “Oh sorry love, I just was showing him the rooms.” The room that was currently occupied by a single woman??? The staff at the front were also quite brusque. I would have complained when I went to check out, but the woman at the desk just gestured to the desk and said “leave the key” and walked away before I could say anything. Truly astonishing treatment. I absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone looking for a short term stay.

This room is very comfortable and clean exceed my expectations！ our roommates are friendly.
