Living on or close to campus can change the practical side of university life, especially when lectures, study spaces and everyday errands need to fit around the same schedule. UniLodge @ UC - Campus West & Guginya is located at 19 Cooinda Street, Bruce ACT 2617, directly on the University of Canberra campus. The property combines several apartment and studio formats with shared facilities, security services and on-site support.
The accommodation covers a fairly broad set of living arrangements. Students can choose from multi-share apartments, studios with ensuites, and one-, two-, and five-bedroom apartments. For students looking for UniLodge @ UC Campus West & Guginya student accommodation, the on-campus location is one of the main practical features of the property, while the different room formats give students more than one way to approach their housing budget and preferred level of privacy.
The student accommodation in Canberra ranges from highly shared arrangements and apartments that offer a greater degree of independence. Prices vary substantially between room types, so students should check whether a listed figure applies to an individual room, a shared arrangement or the whole apartment before comparing costs.
The multishare options include the 7 to 9-bedroom multishare - Guruban, 12-bedroom apartment - Buru, and the 6-bedroom apartment - Wagan.
These arrangements place several residents within the same apartment, with individual bedrooms forming part of a larger shared living setup. They suit students who are comfortable with communal living and want to be around other residents as part of their day-to-day university experience.
The Mulleum - Studio with Ensuite offers a more private arrangement, with room rate starting from approximately AUD 322 per week.
A studio with an ensuite gives the resident a separate accommodation setup rather than sharing a bedroom with several other students. Students who value greater privacy can compare this option against the shared apartments when considering the difference in weekly cost.
One-bedroom apartments are available in both Guginya and Mulleum.
|
Accommodation Type |
Starting Price |
|
Guginya - 1 Bedroom Apartment |
AUD 211/week |
|
Mulleum - 1 Bedroom Apartment |
AUD 446/week |
The significant difference between the listed starting prices makes it important to check the specific apartment configuration, lease conditions and availability rather than treating the two categories as interchangeable.
The Guginya - 2 Bedroom Apartment is listed in two configurations:
|
Accommodation Type |
Starting Price |
|
Guginya 2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom |
AUD 344/week |
|
Guginya 2 Bedroom Apartment |
AUD 465/week |
Two-bedroom accommodation introduces a shared apartment arrangement while keeping the number of residents lower than the larger multi-share options. This can suit students who want a shared living environment without moving into a six-, seven-, or twelve-bedroom apartment.
The Guginya 5 Bedroom Apartment starts at approximately AUD 211 per week.
This format combines private bedrooms with shared living areas. It sits between the smaller two-bedroom apartments and the larger multi-share arrangements, giving students another shared-living structure to consider.
Room prices are indicative and can change according to availability and lease terms. Students should confirm the current price and exact room configuration before making a booking.
Having internet services included means students do not have to arrange a separate connection for their accommodation. This is particularly relevant for university students who rely on an internet connection for online course material, research, assignments, communication and everyday use.
Facilities at UniLodge @ UC - Campus West & Guginya Canberra
The facilities at UniLodge @ UC - Campus West & Guginya cover study, shared living, outdoor activities, security and day-to-day support. Since the property sits directly on the University of Canberra campus, these facilities form part of a wider campus-based routine rather than operating as an isolated residential complex.
Dedicated study rooms are available for residents who need somewhere to work outside their apartment.
Having a separate study area can be useful during periods when an apartment is busy, particularly for students sharing with several other residents. It also gives students the option of moving between private accommodation and a designated academic space depending on the type of work they are doing.
Kitchens are available as shared facilities within the accommodation. Shared cooking areas can be useful for students living in multi-share apartments and for residents who want to prepare meals in a communal setting.
The property also has barbecue grills, adding an outdoor cooking option. Residents can use these spaces for informal meals and gatherings with other residents.
Community Events are organised at the property, giving residents opportunities to meet other students outside their usual apartment groups.
For students moving to Canberra from another city or country, these events can form part of the social side of living on campus. They also give residents a reason to use the shared areas rather than spending all of their time between their room and university buildings.
A bike shed is available for residents who use bicycles. Dedicated bicycle storage is useful for students who cycle around the University of Canberra campus or use a bicycle for local trips.
Keeping bicycles in a designated storage area also means residents have somewhere on the property to leave them rather than having to store them inside their accommodation.
Security at the property includes 24-hour security, security cameras, and security patrols. These measures cover building monitoring and regular security presence around the accommodation.
The property also has 24-hour staff available, which gives residents access to staff support outside standard reception hours.
An on-site reception, operated during business hours, is available for residents who need assistance with accommodation-related matters.
The combination of daytime reception and staff availability outside reception hours means students have designated points of contact for different situations. This is particularly relevant in a campus residence where residents may need assistance at different times of the day.
On-site parking is available for residents with vehicles. This gives students who drive an option to keep a vehicle close to their accommodation while studying at the University of Canberra.
Parking arrangements can be subject to property rules and availability, so students planning to bring a car should confirm the current conditions before moving in.
The location of UniLodge @ UC - Campus West & Guginya is one of its defining practical features. The property at 19 Cooinda Street sits within the University of Canberra campus in Bruce, so students studying at UC do not have a separate residential commute to manage each day.
That arrangement can make a difference to how students organise their week. Students can move between their accommodation, lectures, campus facilities and study spaces without having to plan every part of the day around a longer journey.
The University of Canberra is directly connected to the accommodation's location. Students living at the property have campus facilities within the same broader setting, including the University of Canberra Library (Building 8).
For students whose classes are held across different parts of the campus, living at UniLodge @ UC - Campus West & Guginya can also reduce the need to organise separate transport for ordinary university days.
The Australian National University (ANU) is another Canberra institution accessible from the Bruce area. It is not located on the same campus as the accommodation, so students studying there would need to travel between Bruce and the ANU campus.
The actual journey will depend on the student's timetable, route and transport service, making it worth checking the specific commute before choosing accommodation based on university access.
Students without a car have several public transport points around the property. Bus services cover local and cross-city journeys, while light rail provides another connection to central Canberra and other parts of the network.
The listed bus stops include:
Braybrooke St after Battye St
Watkin St After Thynne St
Haydon Dr Opp University Dr
These stops give residents access to Canberra's bus network for trips beyond the University of Canberra campus.
Bus travel can also be useful for students travelling to shopping areas, appointments, other university campuses or social activities away from Bruce.
Macarthur Avenue Light Rail Station provides access to Canberra's light rail network. It gives residents another public transport option when travelling to the city and other connected areas.
The light rail is particularly useful for students who regularly travel beyond Bruce and want an alternative to bus services.
On-site parking is available at the accommodation. Students bringing a car can therefore keep their vehicle close to their residence, although current parking availability and any applicable conditions should be confirmed with the property.
Living on campus does not mean students have to stay within the university precinct for every daily requirement. Several grocery stores are listed around Bruce and the neighbouring areas, while larger shopping centres can be reached for more extensive retail needs.
The nearby supermarket options include:
IGA Local Grocer Bruce
Friendly Grocer Bruce
Woolworths Metro Cameron Avenue
Coles Jamison
These stores give students several places to handle regular grocery shopping. Smaller stores can also be useful for picking up a few items between classes, while larger supermarkets may be more suitable for a full weekly shop.
Shopping Centres
For a broader selection of retail outlets and services, students can travel to Westfield Belconnen, Majura Park Shopping Centre and Canberra Centre.
These centres extend the shopping options beyond the immediate Bruce neighbourhood, covering larger retail trips, services and other purchases.
Food options around Bruce include cafes for quick meals and coffee as well as restaurants covering different cuisines. This gives students alternatives to preparing every meal in their accommodation.
Cafes
The listed cafes around the area include:
Cafe Momo
Double K UC
Oscar's Bakery Cafe - Bruce
Semesters
These can be useful for a coffee before class, breakfast, a quick meal, or a change of setting when students want to spend some time outside their apartment.
Restaurants
Restaurant options include Yin & Yum Asian Fusion Restaurant, Krispy Kulcha & Sweets, Asian Pot House, Thips Thai and No. 10 Restaurant + Bar Belconnen.
The selection gives students several cuisines and meal styles to choose from, ranging from casual food to more substantial meals.
Students spending much of the week in lectures, libraries and apartments may also want access to open space. Bruce and the surrounding Canberra areas have several parks and reserves listed nearby.
Fern Hill Park
Fern Hill Park offers a local outdoor space for a walk or a short break from study. Its proximity to the accommodation makes it one of the simpler options for getting outside without planning a longer trip.
Bruce Ridge Nature Reserve
The Bruce Ridge Nature Reserve provides a larger natural area near the university precinct. It is suited to walking and outdoor recreation and gives students a change from the built-up campus environment.
Further outdoor options include Glebe Park and Commonwealth Park. Both parks are part of Canberra's wider park network, and students can reach them when they want to spend time away from Bruce.
The University of Canberra Library is the most directly relevant library for students living on campus, but it is not the only study resource available around Canberra.
University and Public Libraries
Students can also use:
Belconnen Library
Dickson Library
Civic Library
These libraries give residents additional locations for reading, independent study, and accessing library services beyond their university accommodation.
Having several study locations can be useful when students want a quieter alternative to their apartment or need to work away from campus for a change of environment.
Health and exercise facilities are available both on campus and in the surrounding Bruce and Belconnen areas.
Gyms and Fitness Facilities
The listed fitness options include UCFitx Sport & Fitness, located on the University of Canberra campus, along with Club Lime Platinum Belconnen (CISAC), F45 Training Belconnen and Fernwood Fitness Belconnen.
UCFitx is particularly relevant for students living at the property because it is part of the campus environment. The other gyms provide alternatives outside the university setting.
Hospitals and Medical Centres
Healthcare options listed around the area include Calvary Bruce Private Hospital, Ochre Medical Centre Bruce, The GP Hub and Ives Family Practice.
Ochre Medical Centre Bruce is located on campus, which can be particularly useful for students who want a medical service close to their accommodation and university routine.
Students also have several places to meet friends and spend time away from academic work.
The listed venues include UC Hub - UCLivex Music Venue, The Pot Belly and Lighthouse Pub.
UC Hub - UCLivex Music Venue particularly connects to the university setting, while the other venues offer options for socialising beyond campus.
Students searching for UniLodge @ UC Campus West & Guginya Canberra will find a property with several distinct accommodation arrangements rather than one standard room format. The choices include multi-share apartments, an ensuite studio, one-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom apartments and a five-bedroom apartment.
Starting prices are approximately AUD 211 per week for selected apartment rooms to AUD 465 per week for the Guginya two-bedroom apartment configuration. The Mulleum studio with ensuite starts from around AUD 322 per week, while the Mulleum one-bedroom apartment starts from approximately AUD 446 per week.
The rent includes internet services. The property also has study rooms, communal kitchens, BBQ grills, community events, bike storage, security cameras, security patrols, 24-hour staff and on-site reception during business hours.
The accommodation's campus position is the first detail to consider. Students at the University of Canberra have their residence within the university environment, while those attending other institutions will need to factor in their daily transport requirements.
The second consideration is the room structure. A student looking for a highly social arrangement can compare the multi-share apartments with the five-bedroom and two-bedroom options. Those who want more privacy can look at the studio with an ensuite or one-bedroom apartments.
Price also needs to be assessed against the specific apartment configuration.
UniLodge @ UC - Campus West & Guginya brings residential life directly to the University of Canberra campus. The accommodation has several room and apartment formats, shared study and social spaces, internet included in the rent, and a set of security and support services for residents.
Outside the property, Bruce and the wider Canberra area add supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, shopping centres, parks, libraries, gyms and healthcare facilities to the picture. For students considering Unilodge @ UC Campus West & Guginya student accommodation, the main practical question is how well its campus-based location, shared facilities and available room types match the way they expect to live and study in Canberra.

I would recommend living here during university life. Until you find a better or 'forever' place this is a fantastic substitute. The staff are friendly and accommodating, The common areas are clean, there is an air of safety following the reliable semi-frequent security patrols. There are fun activities to socialise and connect while being supportive and inviting. And the rates are agreeable for their quality and proximity. The utilities are a fixed rate which eases the transition to owning your own place. The internet is fast and the water is warm. However, one complaint of note is the wellbeing surveys. They are mandatory and if not completed they will follow up with a phone call. It isn't a deal breaker and is just a negligible fortnightly inconvenience instead.

Living at UniLodge Campus West (UC) for almost 2.5 years truly felt like a home away from home. From the moment I moved in, the environment, people, and support made it a place where I felt comfortable, safe, and genuinely cared for. Hanna, the Residential Life Manager, goes above and beyond for residents always checking in on wellbeing and constantly working to make student life more welcoming and positive. Maria, the Residential Life Coordinator, has been amazing in supporting students, planning events, and making sure they actually happen in a way that brings everyone together. A big thank you as well to Naomi, the Reservations Coordinator, and Jing, the Customer Service Manager, who were always helpful, professional, and quick to assist with bookings or any concerns. Haseeb, the General Manager, Jared, the Property Manager, and the maintenance team Morgan, Shaun, and Brandon were consistently efficient, approachable, and great at resolving maintenance issues promptly. From handling bookings and maintenance to resolving conflicts, everything was managed smoothly and with care. I genuinely never felt like I was away from home during my time here. Special shout-out to the RA team for looking after residents after hours and always being there when support was needed. Their presence made a huge difference and added to the strong sense of safety and community.

Since i’m moving out at the end of the month let’s do this. In September 2023, I was approved for a 5 bedroom share at campus west. The second I walked into the apartment, the state was disgusting. Bins in the kitchen overflowing, fridge full of food with seemingly no order of whose goes where and the bathrooms and showers FULL OF MOULD. It was as if no one notified the other 4 residents that someone was moving in. Inspections were only once a quarter and common areas were difficult to avoid with dirty dishes on the sink and stove constantly and limited prep area to actually cook for yourself. January 2024 my mother sent a government document to me that was received at my parents house. I had the tracking number that was told had been delivered to Campus West reception. When asked, they said they had seen nothing despite sending me an email the day before telling me I had mail. I went back multiple times in the next few weeks only to be told my mother “probably put the wrong address on the envelope because we don’t have it”. In SEPTEMBER 2024 I received that document, and on the envelope it had the received date of January 2024. 9 months I waited for it. 9. When I sent an email to them asking for an explanation? “oh we’re sorry, come to reception and we’ll give you a gift”. Nothing was said again about anything they were giving me. Towards the end of the year, I decided i’d like to live on my own. I applied for the one bedroom in October, with my lease ending at the end of December. It took almost until the end of my lease to get confirmation of my booking, during time I was stressed and anxious and extended my contract in case I hadn’t got it. When I moved in early January to the single bedroom, the window sills were and still are chipped and covered in black mould, holes in the wall from thumbtacks, holes hardly filled in and chunks of paint literally just ripped off the wall. Oh! almost forgot the FULL IRON BURN IN THE LIVING ROOM CARPET! I still feel after 12 months that almost $450 a week rent and utilities is highway robbery for what i received. And then the wifi. They use Superloop, which is basically a way to limit the amount of devices you can connect to the wifi, then having to call their customer service lines to connect smart tv and devices as they can’t open the portal login page. After moving from the 5 bed to 1, my wifi was disconnected and I had to go to reception twice to get it reactivated because I had already paid for it. Genuinely, you should consider looking at another provider because I and many of my friends living in campus west don’t have a single nice word to say about them. There’s been minor issues too like prolonged time to repair damages, maintenance workers just coming into your apartment after a few knocks (not giving you enough time to go to the door or yell that you’re coming), the “wellbeing checks” that you’re bombarded with even when not on campus. Don’t be mistaken by how nice and cool the reception is either because there’s no fans or air conditioning! Reminder: I pay $450 A WEEK! The glamour only applies to the staff in reception apparently. Speaking of staff, absolutely useless to converse with, you ask a simple question like “this carpark is closed, where am i allowed to park until it’s reopened” and get a “oh i’m not sure, let me ask my manager” only for the manager not to know either. It’s beyond ridiculous that you have such incompetent staff running everything from mail pickups, booking check-ins and general questions. The fact i’ve lived here for 2.5 years is a miracle purely because I wanted to be closer to campus. My advice is to find somewhere in Belconnen that isn’t overcharging students for trying to live. Not sure about UC lodge, Cooper lodge or Weeden lodge but I wish I did my research before moving here because there’s never an easy day here.
