I stayed in this residence from May to August and can only advise not to choose it for your stay in Montpellier. The contras: dirty, cleaning is not proper; very hot in small rooms; in the rooms facing the street is very loud and due to a west view they’re very hot in summer, the rooms facing the courtyard are a bit cooler, but still very hot. The walls are very thin and you hear not only your neighbours, but also the elevator from almost each room. The pros: close to the city centre and to the shops.

It's a clean and newly renovated student housing in the center of Montpellier...very close to everything you need. There's a tram station and two bus stations right at your doorstep and lots shops/restaurants/grocery stores. The rooms are spacious and clean. Privacy is very good and noise levels are very low. There are vending machines for coffee & tea as well as snacks and soft drinks.

They had quite old and bad equipped studios and others that were new. The orientation of the windows were useless, they faced the sun the whole day or an interior ground with no light at all. They claim to have internet and WiFi, well, the truth is that it doesn't work at all and keeps knocking off. The internet service works bonded to time and credits. You had 12h connection before it kicks you off and 600 credits that counts the bandwidth you consume and they get to 0 the network automatically kicks you out until you have enough credits again. This meant no good skype calls or no series on computer at all. Now, focusing on summertime, rooms are at the temperature of an oven. They claim to have fans but they don't have enough for all the rooms in the building. Now, we go with people at the reception. They open 9-12h and 14-19h and don't put any effort to help students who need to leave between 12-14h even knowing that trains and flights are usually in that window of time. So you either lose your transport home or you spend hours outside carrying suitcases until it's time to go. Next, they claim to have cleaning service which is not true. Just a week before you leave you get a note on your door telling you to clean the whole apartment. If you don't do so you'll be fined with 60€ to pay for the cleaning service. It's okay to ask students to clean their own rooms but not that okay if you claim to have cleaning service. This makes me think that they might not give the studios a proper clean before a new students get in. Plus, I got stained sheets with what looked like blood. I wouldn't recommend the place, it was the worst experience I’ve ever had, so just go look for another residence hall that treat students better.

L’observatoire has great bedrooms and services. Some of them are older than the others, but that doesn’t mean they’re not good. In the kitchen, you have everything you need. Shoutout to Clara: she’s at the reception during the day, and she was the nicest person with me since I arrived there!

I was studying here for one week during August.. The room was clean, it is a student residence, do not expect a five stars hotel! .. clean towels, sheets and toilet paper are provided.
