I stayed at Studentendorf Schlachtensee (Category A) for almost 4 years, and overall it was a really good experience. The place is calm and quiet, which makes it easy to focus and feel at home. My building, House 26 (Category A), was always clean, and the facilities were great — a good gym, study rooms, a washing room, and everything you actually need as a student. There are Aldi and Edeka close by, and getting around Berlin is easy thanks to good public transport connections. I also want to say thanks to the rental office team for their support over the years, especially Frau Behrendt (Laura Behrendt). She was always helpful and responsive whenever I needed assistance. If you’re looking for a peaceful, well-located student residence in Berlin, this is a good choice.

I stayed in the dormitory for 2 years, and it was a wonderful experience. The location is surrounded by greenery, offering students a natural living environment with plenty of social activities. Everything was just great. The dorm also has an amazing team that solves even the smallest issues with your room right away. Special thanks to the Rental Office as well, for always having such a supportive attitude that makes student life easier. Thank you to the whole Studentendorf Schlachtensee family!❤️

Had a good time living here after first arriving in Berlin. In 3 years I talked to a lot of different people from all over the world. In summer this place is perfect for going to the lakes and university (FU) is well connected (30min). I gotta say that this place is more for people who stay less than 3 years. People come and go a lot, which sometimes can become exhausting. The rent here is as low as it gets in Berlin. I paid 450€ per month. After my first year it became 100€ more, due to energy crisis I guess. You gotta say, this is not Kreuzberg, it’s pretty far out, but S7, S1 and U3 are connecting you well to the city. On the other side it’s quiet and pretty green. One critique: I wish there was a hub to meet people run by students. I bet there are a bunch of people (me included) who would love to run such a place. Party, exchange, discuss, politics are an important thing in students lives. Klubhaus is not good for that, because it’s a private thing not run by the Dorf. Partys there are pretty shit :/ Studentenwerk does it better when it comes to this. Nevertheless I had a good time here. Shotout to all the people I met who are reading this✌🏼 Also there are some reviews here, saying the place wasn’t save. I lived here for a long time and me and my friends felt save for all the time. :)

if you're looking for a good apartment, KEEP LOOKING. - If you're planning on spending lots of time within the city, the location is terrible. It usually takes at least an hour to get anywhere. If you're lucky, it takes only 45 minutes. If you're unlucky, it takes 1 hour 30 minutes. There is not much close by. - The buses to the Student Village don't run between the hours of around 23:30 and 05:00. If you want to go anywhere or come back home between those hours, it's around a 30 minute walk to the nearest train station. Not the worst walk in the world, but it's absolutely miserable in the winter. - Lots of misinformation about the supplies they provide. Upon moving in, there's a sheet of paper they leave in the apartment stating that they provide toilet paper and ect, telling us to email them when we are in need of said supplies. When we emailed them, we were told that they don't actually provide those things, and implied that we were ridiculous for asking. I understand why they might not want to supply toilet paper, but what is the point in telling us, in a written document, that they do? There's no point in blatantly lying and claiming you supply toilet paper and other things when you don't. I know that my peers in other apartments had the same issue concerning this misinformation. - The shower drains have plumbing issues. Even when fixed, the issues come back within a few days. - Halfway through my stay there, they nearly doubled the price of the washers and dryers in the laundry room. It was an unpleasant surprise to suddenly have to make my laundry budget bigger. - The office employee was 30 minutes late to the move-out room inspection, despite me having confirmed the move-out appointment days prior. Inconsiderate of my time when I had a flight to catch after moving out. - They will nitpick during move-out in order to keep as much of your deposit as possible. I've heard many others with the same experience. They even berated me for my "walls looking dirty" (the walls looked the exact same as they did when I moved in). - If they want to replace the bed, they charge 90 euros. Considering the quality of the slab of foam they provide for a mattress, I'm shocked it costs more than 10 euros. Ever single hostel I stayed in during the semester had a better bed and bedding than these apartments did, which is saying something. - The beds are very old and creak constantly. Even the smallest movements you make in bed will cause the bed frame to creak loudly. - Provided below the bare minimum for bedding for international students. The pillow they provided was just a bunch of lumps. The pillow was so ridiculously bad quality that my roommates and I laughed when we saw it, and we each had to go out and buy a new pillow. Providing a half-decent pillow is the bare minimum, and they couldn't even achieve that. I loved the city and my roommates, but this apartment was a nightmare.

This is not a supportive student residence, despite how it presents itself. Decisions are made without transparency, rules feel improvised, and residents are treated as problems rather than people. There is no real effort to build or protect a community. Over time, the atmosphere has become noticeably worse. Strongly not recommended.
