Lovely double bedroom in Vallendar, vallendar

I have used their DHL and copy service for months. Their service is exceptional, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Most of the staff speak English. The owner and the employees always explain my options and the DHL process and regulations and quote the price up front of both the DHL and copy work. In August they have all their machines busy making high quality workbooks for several schools so they can’t do small copy jobs that month as their sign out front clearly explains but they can do DHL in August. They run their business with integrity. Although I am expat with small jobs, I was always treated with a smile and thoughtful service. Really quality people and quality work.

I did my Erasmus Semester at this University and would advise not to do it. Even though Portuguese knowledge isn’t mandatory to apply, I believe it’s good to have at least B1 level. In welcome letter following was stated: ‘Bachelor courses are usually taught in Portuguese whilst Master courses can be taught in English if there are at least 8 international students enrolled in the course. For courses taught in Portuguese, teachers allow Erasmus students to take exams and do course work in English, additionally providing them English bibliography as well.’ Turns out none of the courses was in English. The master’s professors provided presentations in English, some of them even offered additional help, which I’m thankful for. In one of the bachelor courses I was provided nothing in English and the teacher showed zero interest in helping me. She talked all the time in Portuguese, never asked me if I was fine. When I reached out to her, she’d provide me very basic information and go away. I was struggling with depression and anxiety throughout my exchange semester so even showing up to classes was sometimes challenging. Social interactions were almost impossible. The attitude of the teacher made me question everything, yet I thought I’d manage somehow, translated the presentations, tried to understand anything in the classes with my A1/A2 Portuguese level and spent multiple hours teaching myself the subject. In the end I was failed in this subject anyway. The Erasmus Office and the management didn’t take into account that I was treated unfairly, nor that I was facing difficulties due to my mental health. It’s worth mentioning that bachelor classes take place in the morning and afternoon. Master classes take place in the late afternoon until 10pm. I ended up in a situation where I had one class finishing at 10pm and the next day I had another class at 8am. Since the campus is located in a quite fancy area, it’s nearly impossible to find an affordable accommodation nearby, which means one sometimes arrives at home at 11pm and needs to leave it the next day at 7am if you’re unlucky. I was also surprised that master classes start 2 weeks later than the bachelor classes do. The schedule is published about 1 week before the classes start, which might make things complicated for people who work. From what I heard, there are some teachers showing no interest in Erasmus students, some speaking no English, some even manifesting xenophobic tendencies. Nonetheless, some teachers showed interest, were supportive and understanding. I believe those are aware of it and thank you for that.

I never have the attention I have in this Uni. All the staff are super kind.
