1 - FORBIN, toulouse

The agency is not a scam and the apartment fit the description, however, our experience was really bad. We received the apartment in a really bad condition (hygienic products in the bin, hair in the sink, broken wardrobe etc.). The agency did not even bother to apologize, ignored our complaint and in the end we had to leave the apartment crystal-clean (wash the windows and everything). From the beginning, the fridge was broken and we only received one pair of keys for an apartment for 2 people. It took repeated calls and more than 2 months to receive the other set of keys and the fridge was never repaired (it was constantly freezing everything, so for 4 months, we did not have a proper fridge). Another problem were the energy bills - we paid twice as much as what we were told our energy bill would be (actually 3x as much for the month when we turned on heating). I understand that the energy prices went up, but we should have been told that the bill will be that high. We actually paid 2 extra weeks than we actually stayed there (the policy of the landlord who managed not to get the fridge repaired and who in the end had racist comments on my behalf), so with these additional costs and all of the unsolved problems and extra energy bills, I believe we would have been better-off in another agency that might have had higher initial fees. Finally, it has been a month since we left and we still have not received the deposit money (only today did I receive a confirmation of the payment). When I contacted the landlord about it two weeks ago, she had racist remarks and told me she has a month to send the money. Well today it has been a month and I still have not seen my deposit and caf scholarship. (Edit: I received the deposit a few days after writing this review and apparently, sending the deposit back is purely in the competence of the landlord, not the agency) Overall, I would recommend choosing another agency, we were really disappointed.

The flat was disgusting, but I took it anyway, because I was promised it would be cleaned by the cleaning service - surprise, never was. I had to clean at least 5 years worth of dirt, hair, pubes and everything from the toilet all by myself, with the products I had to buy with my money. The kitchen was equally disgusting, it stank so bad, there was mold on the cutting board, clogged sink, broken window, that made the whole place super cold and much more. The woman managing this whole business is a pathological liar, she will schedule a visit at some hour, but always arrives two hours late. She was never on time, I swear. When called, she says she’s on the way, but you can hear she’s not in the car 😂 I vacated the place early and was told on the phone that I will get my money back for the rest of the month. I never did and probably never will. If she tells you anything, you better ask for that on a written document. Also, get a French person to speak for you, because they think they can steal money from foreigners. And an absolute cherry on top - she located someone in my room before I left. I opened my room door on a naked guy in my bed. When I asked what he’s doing there, he told me Pascale gave him a green light since I already washed the sheets and left. But I only left for a day, I still had stuff to take and I was still paying for that time. Lovely experience 🙃 Don’t waste your time and nerves.

It has been more than 17 months since we left our apartment but we have not yet received our deposite back. Despite multiple emails, the team is not doing anything to get us the money back from the landlor. I would not recommend this agency.

I would recommend AFS to anyone searching for a reliable agency to find you an accomodation in Toulouse. Their way of working is very structured and transparent. They have helped me and my friends find nice accomodations in good neighborhoods. Pascale helped me a lot in finding the ideal appartement for me and I'm sure she'll help you too. The go to agency for students, new beginners and anyone who doesn't have any connections in a new city.
