602 EUCLID WARNING! ***Reposting bc they said my last comment was inaccurate and slanderous. This is my first ever negative review. I am an active 5-star reviewer for local businesses, never below or I don’t go out of my way. Here is why…… My 4 friends and I rented 602 euclid ave bc they stated during the in-person tour and online that there were 4 on-site parking spots. We each had a car on campus & we have a history of parking tickets. There was only 1 designated for us when we moved in. (It was often blocked in by the upstairs neighbors too/we had to block them in) We would not have signed the lease if they told us the truth & that is my largest frustration. UA will try to tell you they solved your issue by offering “compensation” or alternative means (*refusing financial*). They offered us parking that needs a pass about 2 blocks opposite of campus, which was nice but we never used it bc there was usually a closer open street spot (needs to be moved every day but sometimes that is how often we use our cars if not more). Very disappointing and UA’s lack of accountability, validation of your frustration, and urgency to maturely address their mistake is completely absent. They have been so rude, vague, and somehow made us feel like this was our fault and issue to solve because they wouldn’t legitimately reimburse us for their lie. Anyway. If they/Meredith reply that this is inaccurate and slanderous, i told you so! Lol. - an over-it graduated su alum who j got her security deposit back :D Like i feel so icky even saying all this but like i had to give y’all the heads up bc god knows they won’t be upfront :(.

RESPONSE: It’s not slander if what I’m saying is true. Your response shows a lack of basic empathy and integrity. I paid through your app, so the responsibility to address my payment and the condition of the apartment falls on you. I stand by my experience. EVEN IF the original tenant was still there, i would HOPE you'd have the decency to refund her as well because that damage is disgusting. Bringing up that the original tenant’s dad is a lawyer came across as an attempt to intimidate and scare me, which is inappropriate. Your comment reinforces why I shared my honest experience. It’s also worth noting—Syracuse always gets snow, so blaming the storm doesn’t excuse an unsafe or unlivable apartment. I also refused to stay in the alternate apartment because if the roof cap could fly off the building, why would I want to be there? It was disgusting, and I didn’t have the time or energy to move all my belongings. I DROVE 5 hours to get to school and I DON'T HAVE THE TIME TO UNPACK AND CLEAN A DIRTY APARTMENT THAT WAS USED AS A SHOW ROOM FOR STRANGERS. Every other review of your organization points out similar issues with the state of your properties. It’s embarrassing that you refuse to take accountability. Hope you ate good with my rent money, because clearly you need it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up to be careful and NOT RENT from UAA, especially Meredith and Frank. Back in January, I was subletting from another student because I was returning from abroad and was pretty desperate to find housing. When I walked into the apartment for the first time after signing the lease, I was shocked-I could literally see the sky through my ceiling. There was insulation scattered across the floor, and the entire apartment was covered in dirt and grime. They are claiming my contract was with the tenant rather than them, but I paid the landlord through the UAA app. They are the ones responsible for reimbursing me, especially since the apartment was unlivable. I was also told I would receive my keys on January 1, but I didn’t gain access until the 5th. Both the landlord, Frank, and the tenant took a month's rent from me, refused to refund it, and then completely ghosted me. They also tried to make it seem like I was overreacting, with subtle threatening undertones. At one point, Frank even told me that the girl's dad was a lawyer and that she could sue me, basically warning me to "watch out.* Later, he completely denied ever saying that, and his wife backed him up. The landlord claimed only the previous tenant could refund me, which made no sense since I paid through their app. The tenant didn't want to let me out of the sublease, but i refused to keep paying. To make things worse, the previous tenant dropped off the keys an hour before I moved in, and there were mud tracks all through the apartment. Frank even tried to offer me a temporary model unit, then expected me to move back into the original, unsafe place, like I don't have school or work to deal with. I kept this to myself for a while because I didn’t want the added stress or to escalate the situation, but after thinking it through, taking $695 from me is not okay, that’s the equivalent of seven weeks of groceries. It’s frustrating to see people acquire property and then neglect it while taking advantage of vulnerable tenants. It's honestly sad how this landlord take advantage of students. Their greedy behavior is terrible. There is NO point in reasoning with them because they are terrible. They also said the roof and ceiling collapsed because of a storm. This is Syracuse, NY—we live in a snow belt. If the apartment can’t withstand that, then it clearly isn’t a suitable place to live.

Lived at UAA 614 S Crouse Ave. Overall great apartment to live in. 5-7 min walking distance from Upstate Hospital/Library. Staff and maintenance are pleasant and easy to get in touch with. They respond quickly to any issues. Our apartment was very clean when we first moved in. Moving out of the apartment, we were given our deposits back and we did not have to pay a cleaning fee. Would recommend living on the second or third floor since the elevators frequently don’t work well. Main downside is during the winter there is a lot of ice on the driveways/parkings lots/all entrances. Also parking is an issue too sometimes.

Renting with UAA has been an amazing experience from start to finish. The management team is always responsive and provides, clear, helpful communication, which makes the rental process smooth and stress-free. Any maintenance requests we've had were handled quickly and efficiently, showing their commitment to tenant satisfaction. The property itself, is in a prime location, making it incredibly convenient for getting around, and the parking lot has been a huge plus. The front lawn adds a nice touch, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment. My roommates and I have truly enjoyed living here, and we all agree that it has been one of the best housing experiences we've had. I would highly recommend renting with UAA to anyone looking for a well-managed and enjoyable place to live.

I’m a current tenant at University Area Apartments and want to share a very disappointing experience. Recently, my basement apartment ceiling began leaking due to the upstairs tenant defrosting their fridge without taking proper precautions. The water leak lasted at least a full day and damaged personal items including books, photographs, and storage boxes. I reported the issue promptly in writing, but received no response from management for three full days. Out of urgency, I visited the leasing office in person the same day, but the staff member I spoke to offered no help contacting maintenance. I had to call emergency maintenance myself. The maintenance worker who eventually came confirmed the leak was still active — which contradicts the management's claim that it was “not an active leak.” Their response minimized the issue, calling it a “small ceiling leak,” and they refused to provide any compensation or even a rent credit despite the property damage and days of inconvenience. I was also told they could not assist in contacting the responsible tenant. I am a student with limited means, and losing valuable personal belongings — and being met with indifference — has been incredibly frustrating. This comes after a break-in I experienced in the same unit last year. Rather than addressing the situation seriously, the office suggested I terminate my lease — which I had already renewed. This experience reflects a troubling lack of empathy and accountability. I’m sharing this so future renters are aware. If you’re a student or someone who values responsive management, I would recommend looking elsewhere. I could upload only few of the pictures for privacy reasons.
